• 3.1 Portable Radio Functionality

4. Setup Guide

1. Power Connection: Connect the supplied power adapter to the DC IN socket on the back of the radio and plug it into a wall outlet.
2. Antenna: Fully extend the telescopic antenna located on the back of the radio for optimal DAB/DAB+ and FM reception.
3. Initial Power On: Press the Power button to turn on the radio. The display will illuminate.
4. Automatic Scan (DAB): Upon first power-on, the radio will automatically perform a full scan for DAB/DAB+ stations. This may take a few minutes. Once complete, the radio will tune to the first available station.
5. Setting Time and Date: The time and date are usually set automatically via DAB or FM signals. If not, you can manually adjust them through the system settings menu.
6. Optional Battery Installation: If you wish to use the radio portably, install the compatible rechargeable battery (sold separately) into the battery compartment on the underside of the unit. Ensure correct polarity.

5. Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off: Press the Power button to turn the radio on or off.
2. Mode Selection: Press the MODE button repeatedly to cycle through available modes: DAB, FM, Bluetooth, and Aux-in.
3. Volume Control: Use the + and - buttons to adjust the volume level.
4. DAB/DAB+ Radio:
   • Station Scan: In DAB mode, press and hold the MENU button, then select "Full Scan" to search for all available stations.
   • Tuning: Use the < and > buttons to navigate through the list of available stations. Press OK to select a station.
   • Saving Presets: To save a station, press and hold the PRESET button. Use < and > to choose a preset number (1-60), then press OK to confirm.
   • Recalling Presets: Briefly press the PRESET button, then use < and > to select the desired preset. Press OK to tune.
5. FM Radio:
   • Auto Scan: In FM mode, press and hold the MENU button, then select "Auto Scan" to find and save stations.
   • Manual Tuning: Use the < and > buttons for fine-tuning.
   • Saving/Recalling Presets: Follow the same procedure as for DAB radio.
6. Bluetooth Pairing:
   • Switch the radio to Bluetooth mode. The display will show "Pairing" or "Waiting for connection".
   • On your Bluetooth-enabled device (smartphone, tablet), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
   • Select "VQ Monty" from the list. Once connected, the radio will confirm the connection.
7. Aux-in Mode:
   • Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player) to the 3.5mm Aux-in port on the back of the radio using a standard 3.5mm audio cable (not supplied).
   • Switch the radio to Aux-in mode. Audio from your connected device will now play through the radio's speaker.
8. Alarm Clock:
   • Setting Alarms: Press the MENU button, navigate to "System Settings" then "Alarm". Follow the on-screen prompts to set alarm time, source (DAB/FM/Buzzer), frequency (Daily/Weekdays/Weekends), and volume.
   • Snooze: When an alarm sounds, press any button (except Power) to activate snooze. The alarm will sound again after a set interval.
   • Sleep Timer: Set the radio to turn off automatically after a specified period via the "Sleep" option in System Settings.
   • Countdown Timer: Set a countdown timer for various activities via the "Countdown" option in System Settings.
9. USB Charging: Connect your mobile device's USB charging cable to the USB port on the back of the radio to charge your device. Note that this port is for charging only and does not support data transfer.
10. Headphone Use: Plug standard 3.5mm headphones into the headphone jack on the back of the radio for private listening. The radio's speaker will automatically mute.

• Cleaning: To clean the radio, gently wipe the surfaces with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as these may damage the finish.
• Antenna Care: Handle the telescopic antenna with care. Do not force or bend it, as this can impair reception.
