Setup

1. Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect the binoculars and accessories for any signs of damage. If any damage is found, please contact customer support immediately.

2. Battery Installation

The binoculars require 1 Lithium Ion battery (included) for the illuminated rangefinder and compass. Locate the battery compartment, typically near the compass illumination button. Insert the battery according to the polarity indicators (+/-). Close the compartment securely.

3. Attaching the Strap

Attach the provided floating strap to the strap lugs on the binoculars. Ensure the strap is securely fastened to prevent accidental drops, especially when near water.

4. Adjusting the Interpupillary Distance

Hold the binoculars with both hands and look through the eyepieces. Adjust the distance between the two barrels by moving them closer or further apart until you see a single, clear circular field of view. This ensures proper alignment with your eyes.

5. Diopter Adjustment

The binoculars feature two ±5 diopter adjustment rings, one for each eyepiece, to compensate for differences in vision between your left and right eyes. Follow these steps for proper adjustment:

  1. Close your right eye and look through the left eyepiece at a distant object. Rotate the left diopter ring until the image is sharp and clear.
  2. Close your left eye and look through the right eyepiece. Rotate the right diopter ring until the image is sharp and clear.
  3. With both eyes open, the image should now be perfectly focused.

Operating Instructions

1. Focusing

Once the interpupillary distance and diopter are set, you can focus on different objects. For general viewing, use the central focus knob (if present, though this model emphasizes individual diopter for marine use). For marine binoculars with individual focus, each eyepiece is focused independently using its diopter ring.

2. Using the Illuminated Rangefinder and Compass

The internal rangefinder scale and built-in compass are visible within the field of view. To illuminate them in low-light conditions, press the light button located on the binoculars. The illumination will make the scales and compass readings clearer.

Estimating Distance: The rangefinder scale allows you to estimate the distance to an object if its height is known, or vice versa. Refer to the diagram on the binoculars or in Figure 3 for the specific formula and scale interpretation.

Using the Compass: The built-in compass provides directional orientation. The compass scale indicates degrees (e.g., 90° for East, 180° for South, 270° for West, 360° for North). Ensure the binoculars are held level for accurate readings.

3. Low-Light Vision

These binoculars are designed to provide enhanced brightness in low-light conditions, not in total darkness. The large objective lenses and BAK4 prisms maximize light gathering, allowing for clearer viewing at dawn, dusk, or in dimly lit environments.

4. Using with Eyeglasses

The eyecups can be folded down for comfortable use by individuals wearing eyeglasses. This allows the user to maintain the full field of view without removing their glasses.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning Lenses

To clean the lenses, first use a soft brush or compressed air to remove any dust or debris. Then, use the provided cleaning cloth or a specialized lens cleaning cloth with a small amount of lens cleaning fluid. Wipe gently in a circular motion. Avoid using abrasive materials or excessive force, as this can scratch the lens coatings.

2. Cleaning the Body

Wipe the body of the binoculars with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by wiping with a clean, damp cloth. Ensure no water enters the optical components.

3. Storage

When not in use, store the binoculars in their carrying bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the lens covers are in place to protect the lenses from dust and scratches.

4. Waterproofing Care

While the binoculars are IPX7 waterproof, it is recommended to rinse them with fresh water after exposure to saltwater to prevent salt buildup and corrosion. Dry thoroughly before storing.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Image is blurry or out of focus.Incorrect diopter setting or interpupillary distance.Adjust interpupillary distance and re-focus using the individual diopter rings as described in the Setup section.
Compass or rangefinder illumination not working.Dead battery or incorrect battery installation.Check battery polarity. Replace battery if necessary.
Fogging inside the lenses.Extreme temperature changes or seal compromise.Allow binoculars to acclimate to ambient temperature. If fogging persists, the seal may be compromised; contact customer support.
Image appears dark or dim.Insufficient ambient light or dirty lenses.Ensure adequate light conditions. Clean objective lenses and eyepieces.
