1. Introduction

The ROCCAT Torch is a studio-grade USB microphone designed for high-quality audio capture. It features 24-bit audio quality, a dual condenser design, and integrated pop guard for clear sound. The microphone offers three distinct pick-up patterns, contactless quick-mute functionality, and reactive RGB lighting. It is compatible with various accessories, including boom arms, to adapt to different setups.

2. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your ROCCAT Torch USB Microphone:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove the microphone, base, and USB cables from the packaging.
  2. Connect Microphone to Base: Attach the microphone unit to its base. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  3. Connect to Computer: Use the provided USB cable to connect the microphone base to an available USB port on your PC. The microphone is compatible with Windows 7, 8.1, 10, and 11 (USB 1.1/2.0/3.0).
  4. Driver Installation: Your operating system should automatically detect and install the necessary drivers. No additional software is typically required for basic functionality.
  5. Optional Boom Arm Setup: The microphone can be detached from its base and mounted on a compatible boom arm. Connect the microphone to the boom arm and then connect the boom arm's USB cable to the base. The base controls remain functional in this configuration.

3. Operating Instructions

The ROCCAT Torch offers intuitive controls and features for optimal audio performance.

3.1 Mixer-Style Controls

The microphone base features dedicated controls for easy adjustments during use:

  • Pattern Knob: Rotate to select between different pick-up patterns.
  • Volume Knob: Adjusts the headphone monitoring volume. Press to physically mute/unmute the microphone.
  • Gain Slider: Controls the microphone's input sensitivity. Adjust as needed to prevent clipping or to boost quiet signals.

3.2 Pick-Up Patterns

The ROCCAT Torch features three selectable pick-up patterns:

  • Cardioid: Captures sound primarily from the front, reducing background noise. Ideal for solo streaming, gaming, and podcasting.
  • Stereo: Captures sound from both left and right channels, providing a wider soundstage. Suitable for music recording or capturing ambient sounds.
  • Whisper: An exclusive pattern designed to pick up even very quiet speech clearly, useful for low-volume conversations or specific recording scenarios.

3.3 Contactless Quick-Mute

The microphone features a gesture-activated mute function. Simply wave your hand over the top of the microphone to instantly mute or unmute. The RGB lighting on the microphone and the 'LIVE' indicator on the base will change to show the current mute status.

3.4 Reactive RGB Lighting

The ROCCAT Torch incorporates three distinct RGB lighting zones. These lights change color based on the selected pick-up pattern or the microphone's mode (e.g., live or muted). They also serve as a visual indicator to assist in fine-tuning the gain level.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the microphone and base. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the microphone in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Handle the microphone with care to avoid dropping or impacting it, which could damage internal components.
  • Cable Management: Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the USB cables to prevent damage.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ROCCAT Torch microphone, refer to the following common solutions:
