Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure your workspace is clear and you have all necessary components and tools.

1. Removing Side Panels

Locate the thumbscrews on the rear of the chassis. Unscrew them and carefully slide the side panels backward, then lift them off. Set them aside in a safe place.

2. Motherboard Installation

Install the necessary motherboard standoffs into the motherboard tray according to your Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX motherboard's screw hole pattern. Carefully place your motherboard onto the standoffs and secure it with the provided screws.

3. Power Supply Unit (PSU) Installation

The PS16 supports a bottom-mounted power supply. Slide your PSU into the designated bay at the bottom rear of the case. Secure it with screws from the rear of the chassis. It is recommended to use a modular or semi-modular power supply for easier cable management within this compact case.

4. Storage Drive Installation

The case provides bays for 5.25", 3.5", and 2.5" drives.

• 5.25" Drives: Remove the front panel cover for the 5.25" bay. Slide the optical drive into the bay from the front and secure it with screws.
• 3.5" Drives: Install 3.5" hard drives into the drive cage located at the front of the chassis. Secure them using the provided screws.
• 2.5" Drives: 2.5" SSDs or HDDs can be mounted in designated locations, typically on the drive cage or behind the motherboard tray.

5. Expansion Card Installation (e.g., GPU)

Remove the necessary expansion slot covers from the rear of the case. Insert your graphics card or other expansion cards into the appropriate PCIe slots on your motherboard. Secure the cards with screws.

6. Cooling System Installation

The PS16 supports 120mm fans or radiators at the front and rear. Install fans or radiators as desired, ensuring proper airflow direction (intake/exhaust).

7. Cable Management

Route all power and data cables neatly. Utilize the cable routing cutouts and tie-down points behind the motherboard tray to manage cables effectively. This improves airflow and aesthetics.

Operating the Case

Once all components are installed and the side panels are reattached, connect your peripherals and power cable. The front panel features a power button, reset button, and USB 3.0 ports.

• Power Button: Press to turn on or off the computer.
• Reset Button: Press to restart the computer.
• USB 3.0 Ports: Connect USB devices for high-speed data transfer.
• Audio Jacks: Connect headphones and microphones.

Dust Filter Cleaning

The Silverstone PS16 features easily accessible removable dust filters. Periodically remove and clean these filters to prevent dust buildup inside the case, which can impede airflow and component cooling.

• Gently pull out the dust filters from their respective locations (e.g., front panel, bottom).
• Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove accumulated dust.
• Rinse with water if necessary, ensuring they are completely dry before reinstallation.
• Reinstall the filters securely.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues during or after assembly, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

• System Not Powering On: Double-check all power connections, including the 24-pin ATX, 8-pin CPU, and GPU power cables. Ensure the PSU switch is in the 'ON' position. Verify front panel header connections to the motherboard.
• No Display Output: Confirm the graphics card is fully seated in its PCIe slot and connected to power. Ensure the monitor cable is connected to the graphics card, not the motherboard's integrated graphics port (unless using integrated graphics).
• Overheating: Check fan connections and ensure they are spinning. Verify CPU cooler installation and thermal paste application. Ensure proper airflow direction within the case. Clean dust filters if clogged.
• Component Clearance Issues: If a component does not fit, refer to the specifications section to ensure compatibility with the case's dimensions.
