4. Setup
4.1 Unpacking and Placement
Carefully unpack the WBT-210 balancer and all its components. Position the machine on a solid, level concrete floor capable of supporting the machine's weight (approximately 725 lbs) plus the maximum wheel weight. Ensure adequate space around the machine for safe operation and maintenance.
4.2 Power Connection
Connect the balancer to a suitable 220V power supply as indicated on the machine's specifications. Ensure the power outlet is properly grounded and protected by a circuit breaker. Consult a qualified electrician if necessary.
4.3 Initial Calibration
The WBT-210 features self-calibration capabilities. Refer to the control panel instructions (Figure 3.4) for initiating the self-calibration process upon initial setup or after significant relocation. This ensures accurate balancing results.
5. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for balancing a wheel using the ATLAS WBT-210.
5.1 Mounting a Wheel
- Use the pneumatic wheel lift to raise the wheel to the level of the balancing shaft.
- Carefully slide the wheel onto the 40mm balancing shaft.
- Secure the wheel using the appropriate cone set and the heavy-duty steel wing nut or plastic quick release nut, ensuring it is centered and tightly fastened.
Video 5.1: This video demonstrates the process of mounting a wheel onto the ATLAS WBT-210 balancer, including the use of the pneumatic wheel lift and securing mechanisms.
5.2 Inputting Wheel Parameters
Refer to Figure 3.4 for the control panel layout.
- Use the measuring arms to determine the wheel's distance (A), width (B), and diameter (D).
- Input these values into the control panel using the corresponding A+, A-, B+, B-, D+, D- keys. The values will be displayed on the INNER and OUTER screens.
- Select the desired balancing mode (Static/Dynamic) using the STA/DYN key. For aluminum wheels, use the ALU mode key.
5.3 Balancing Process
- Lower the protective hood. The machine will automatically start the balancing cycle.
- Once the cycle is complete, the display will show the required weight amounts for the inner and outer sides of the wheel.
- The weight location indicators on the control panel will guide you to the precise placement points for the weights.
5.4 Weight Placement
Apply the indicated balance weights to the wheel at the positions shown by the control panel indicators. Re-spin the wheel to verify the balance. Repeat the process if necessary until the display shows zero or minimal imbalance.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your WBT-210 balancer.
- Regular Cleaning: Keep the machine clean from dirt, dust, and tire debris. Use a soft cloth and mild cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the finish or electronic components.
- Calibration Checks: Perform self-calibration periodically, or if you suspect inaccurate readings.
- Component Inspection: Regularly inspect the balancing shaft, cone sets, and quick release nut for wear or damage. Check all cables and connections for integrity.
- Lubrication: Follow manufacturer guidelines for lubricating any moving parts, if applicable.
7. Troubleshooting
The WBT-210 features self-diagnosis capabilities that display error codes. Consult the machine's internal error code list (if available in the full manual) for specific issues. Below are general troubleshooting tips:
- Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the wheel is properly mounted and centered. Verify that all wheel parameters (distance, width, diameter) are correctly entered. Perform a self-calibration.
- Machine Not Starting: Check power connection and circuit breaker. Ensure the protective hood is fully lowered.
- Excessive Vibration: Re-check wheel mounting. Inspect the balancing shaft for damage or excessive wear.
- Error Codes Displayed: Note the specific error code and refer to the detailed troubleshooting guide in the complete product manual or contact customer support.
