3. Setup & Installation

3.1 Choosing the Correct Mode

The Evenflo Symphony All-in-One car seat offers three modes of use:

Always refer to the labels on your car seat and this manual for specific weight and height limits for each mode.

3.2 Installation Methods

The car seat can be installed using either the vehicle's LATCH system or the vehicle's seat belt. Always ensure a tight installation with less than one inch of movement at the belt path.

3.2.1 Rear-Facing Installation (LATCH or Seat Belt)

  1. Place the car seat in the rear-facing position on the vehicle seat.
  2. Locate the rear-facing belt path on the car seat.
  3. If using LATCH, attach the lower LATCH connectors to your vehicle's lower anchors. Tighten the LATCH strap until the car seat moves less than 1 inch side-to-side and front-to-back at the belt path.
  4. If using the vehicle seat belt, route the lap and shoulder belt through the rear-facing belt path. Buckle the seat belt and remove all slack by pressing down firmly on the car seat while pulling the shoulder belt. Lock the vehicle seat belt according to your vehicle owner's manual.
  5. Ensure the recline indicator is within the acceptable range for rear-facing.

3.2.2 Forward-Facing Installation (LATCH or Seat Belt with Top Tether)

  1. Place the car seat in the forward-facing position on the vehicle seat.
  2. Locate the forward-facing belt path on the car seat.
  3. If using LATCH, attach the lower LATCH connectors to your vehicle's lower anchors. Tighten the LATCH strap.
  4. If using the vehicle seat belt, route the lap and shoulder belt through the forward-facing belt path. Buckle the seat belt and remove all slack. Lock the vehicle seat belt.
  5. Attach the top tether strap to the vehicle's top tether anchor point and tighten. The top tether is crucial for forward-facing installations.
  6. Ensure the car seat moves less than 1 inch side-to-side and front-to-back at the belt path.

3.2.3 Belt-Positioning Booster Installation

  1. Remove the internal harness system as instructed in the car seat manual.
  2. Place the car seat in the booster position on the vehicle seat.
  3. Position your child in the booster seat.
  4. Route the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt correctly over your child and through the designated belt guides on the booster seat. The shoulder belt should lie flat across the center of your child's shoulder and chest, and the lap belt should be low on the hips, touching the upper thighs.

4. Operating Features

4.1 Harness Adjustment

The Evenflo Symphony features a no-rethread harness system, allowing for easy adjustment as your child grows. To adjust the harness height, simply slide the headrest and harness straps up or down to the appropriate position. The harness straps should be at or just below the child's shoulders for rear-facing, and at or just above the child's shoulders for forward-facing.

To tighten the harness, pull the adjustment strap located at the front of the car seat. To loosen, press the harness release button (usually under a fabric flap) and pull the harness straps forward.

4.2 Headrest Adjustment

The one-hand adjustable headrest grows with your child, ensuring proper head and neck support. To adjust, squeeze the handle at the top of the headrest and slide it up or down to the desired height.
