- Speaker grilles (magnetic)
- Spike feet for stability

Setup
1. Unpacking and Placement
Carefully remove the speakers from their packaging. It is recommended to have assistance due to the weight of each speaker (approximately 63.5 pounds).
Position the speakers on a stable, level surface. The Diamond 12.4 speakers are floor-standing and feature rear-firing ports. For optimal bass response and to avoid muddiness, place the speakers at least a couple of feet away from rear walls. Experiment with placement to find the best soundstage in your listening environment.

2. Connecting to an Amplifier
The Diamond 12.4 speakers connect to your amplifier using either RCA or screw terminal connections. Ensure your amplifier is turned off before making any connections.
- Use high-quality speaker cables for the best audio performance.
- Connect the positive (+) terminal (red) on the speaker to the positive (+) terminal on your amplifier.
- Connect the negative (-) terminal (black) on the speaker to the negative (-) terminal on your amplifier.
- Ensure all connections are secure to prevent short circuits or signal loss.

The recommended amplifier power for these speakers is 30-200W, with a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms. Using an amplifier within this range will ensure proper operation and prevent damage.
Operating Instructions
Once connected, you can begin using your Wharfedale Diamond 12.4 speakers.
- Power On: Turn on your amplifier and any connected audio sources.
- Volume Control: Start with the volume at a low level and gradually increase it to your desired listening level. Avoid excessively high volumes to prevent speaker damage and hearing loss.
- Break-in Period: Speakers typically require a 'break-in' period of several hours of use to achieve their optimal sound performance. During this time, the drivers will loosen up, and the sound quality may improve.
- Grilles: The speakers come with magnetic grilles. You may choose to use them for protection or remove them for a slightly different aesthetic and potentially a more open sound.

Maintenance
Proper care will help maintain the appearance and performance of your speakers.
- Cleaning: Dust the cabinets regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Grilles: The magnetic grilles can be gently removed and dusted.
- Environment: Avoid placing speakers in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in areas with high humidity.
- Handling: When moving speakers, lift them carefully from the base. Avoid dragging them, especially if spike feet are installed, to prevent damage to the feet or floor.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your speakers, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound from one or both speakers | Loose or incorrect cable connections; amplifier off or muted; incorrect source selection. | Check all speaker cable connections at both the speaker and amplifier. Ensure amplifier is on and not muted. Verify correct audio source is selected on the amplifier. |
| Distorted or unclear sound | Overdriven amplifier; damaged speaker cable; incorrect speaker placement; faulty audio source. | Reduce amplifier volume. Inspect speaker cables for damage. Adjust speaker placement. Test with a different audio source. |
| Weak or boomy bass | Incorrect speaker placement (too close to walls); phase issues; amplifier settings. | Move speakers further from walls. Check speaker cable polarity (+ to + and - to -). Adjust bass settings on your amplifier or receiver. |
| Physical damage to speaker feet | Impact during shipping or handling. | Contact Wharfedale customer support or your retailer for assistance. Handle speakers with care, especially during installation of spike feet. |
