2. Safety Information

Your safety is paramount. The ScorpionEXO GT930 helmet is designed and certified to meet stringent safety standards. Always wear your helmet correctly and ensure it is properly secured before riding.

2.1 Certifications

  • DOT FMVSS No. 218 Certified: This helmet complies with the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 218.
  • ECE 22.06 P/J Certified: This helmet meets European safety standards for both protective (P) and jet (J) configurations, indicating its suitability for use in both full-face and open-face modes.

2.2 Proper Fit and Retention

A helmet must fit snugly and comfortably to provide maximum protection. Ensure the chin strap is securely fastened using the Double D-Ring retention system. The helmet should not move freely on your head when shaken. The Anti-Roll Off System is designed to keep the helmet in place during an impact.

2.3 General Safety Guidelines

  • Never ride without your helmet properly fastened.
  • Do not modify the helmet in any way, as this can compromise its protective capabilities.
  • Replace your helmet immediately after any impact, even if visible damage is not apparent.
  • Avoid exposing the helmet to extreme temperatures or harsh chemicals.

4. Setup

4.1 Initial Inspection

Upon unboxing, carefully inspect your helmet for any signs of damage that may have occurred during shipping. Check the shell, visor, chin strap, and internal padding.

4.2 Adjusting Fit

The KwikWick ‘C’ Comfort Liner and KwikFit 3D Contoured Cheekpads are designed for comfort. Ensure the helmet fits snugly around your head and cheeks without causing pressure points. If you wear eyeglasses, the KwikFit cheekpads are designed to accommodate them easily.

4.3 Installing/Removing Clear Shield

The Ellip-Tec Ratchet System allows for tool-less shield changes. To remove, open the clear shield fully, locate the release mechanism on each side, and follow the instructions provided in the helmet's quick-start guide (if applicable) or refer to the manufacturer's online resources. To install, align the shield with the ratchet mechanism and press firmly until it clicks into place.

4.4 Attaching the Peak Visor (Open-Face Mode)

For open-face configuration, the detachable peak visor can be installed. Align the attachment points of the peak visor with the corresponding slots on the helmet and secure it firmly. This provides additional sun protection.

4.5 Communication System Integration

The GT930 is EXO-COM Ready. If you have an EXO-COM Bluetooth Communicator Kit (sold separately), follow its specific installation instructions for seamless integration. The large speaker pockets are designed to accommodate most other communication system speakers as well.

5. Operating

5.1 Transforming Between Full-Face and Open-Face Modes

The GT930's transformer function allows for quick conversion. To switch from full-face to open-face, locate the release mechanism (typically a button or lever near the chin bar pivots) and disengage the chin bar. The chin bar can then be moved to its open position or completely removed without tools. Reverse the process to return to full-face mode, ensuring the chin bar locks securely into place.

5.2 Operating the SpeedView Sun Visor

The Everclear SpeedView drop-down sun visor is operated by a slider mechanism, usually located on the side of the helmet. Slide it down to deploy the sun visor for glare protection and slide it up to retract it when not needed. This can be done easily with gloved hands.

5.3 Adjusting Ventilation

The helmet features adjustable intake vents on the top and mouth area. Open these vents to allow cool air to enter and circulate through the internal channels. Integrated rear exhaust vents facilitate the exit of warm air. Adjust the vents according to your comfort and prevailing weather conditions.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Helmet Shell

Clean the helmet shell with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish and protective coatings. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft, clean cloth.

6.2 Cleaning the Liner and Cheekpads

The KwikWick ‘C’ Comfort Liner and cheekpads are easily removable and washable. Hand wash them with mild soap and lukewarm water. Allow them to air dry completely before reinserting them into the helmet. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

6.3 Visor Care (Clear Shield & Sun Visor)

Clean the Everclear No-Fog Shield and SpeedView Sun Visor with a soft cloth and lukewarm water. For stubborn dirt, use a mild soap solution. Do not use abrasive materials or chemical cleaners, as they can damage the anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings. Dry gently with a microfiber cloth.

6.4 Storage

Store your helmet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use a helmet bag to protect it from dust and scratches. Do not store the helmet near chemicals or solvents.

6.5 Regular Inspection

Periodically inspect your helmet for signs of wear, cracks, or damage to the shell, liner, visors, and chin strap. If any damage is found, discontinue use and consider replacing the helmet.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Visor Fogging

The Everclear No-Fog Shield is designed to resist fogging. If fogging occurs, ensure proper ventilation by opening the helmet's vents. In extreme conditions, a Pinlock visor insert (if available and compatible) can further reduce fogging.

7.2 Excessive Wind Noise

While the Aero Skirt (chin curtain) helps reduce wind noise, some noise is inherent in helmet design. Ensure all vents are closed if you wish to minimize airflow and noise. A proper fit is crucial; an ill-fitting helmet can contribute to increased noise.

7.3 Discomfort or Pressure Points

If you experience discomfort or pressure points, the helmet size might be incorrect, or the padding may need to break in. Ensure the helmet is worn correctly. If discomfort persists, consult a professional for fit assessment.

7.4 Chin Bar Not Latching Securely

When converting to full-face mode, ensure the chin bar is fully engaged and clicks into place on both sides. Inspect the latching mechanisms for any obstructions or damage. Do not ride with an unsecured chin bar.
