2. Package Contents

3. Setup

3.1 Connecting the Base Station

The Gigaset DL780 base station requires a power connection and a telephone line connection. No assembly is required for the main unit.

  1. Connect one end of the telephone connection cable to the designated port on the back of the Gigaset DL780 base station.
  2. Connect the other end of the telephone connection cable to your wall telephone socket. Use the TAE adapter if necessary.
  3. Connect one power adapter to the power socket on the back of the base station.
  4. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.

3.2 Inserting Batteries into the Handset

The cordless handset requires rechargeable batteries for operation.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the Gigaset DL780H handset.
  2. Insert the two AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover.
  4. Place the handset in its charging cradle. Connect the second power adapter to the charging cradle and plug it into a wall outlet. Allow the handset to charge for several hours before first use.

3.3 Initial Configuration

The handset is pre-registered to the base station at the factory. Upon successful connection and charging, the phone should be ready for use. You may need to set the date and time, and language preferences via the handset menu.

4. Operation

4.1 Making and Receiving Calls

Both the corded base unit and the cordless handset can be used to make and receive calls. The large keys and clear display facilitate easy dialing.

  • To make a call: Lift the receiver (corded unit) or press the green call button (handset), then dial the number.

The Gigaset DL780 Plus features a shared phonebook that can store up to 99 entries. Entries are accessible from both the corded base unit and the cordless handset.

  • Accessing entries: Use the navigation keys to scroll through the phonebook or search by name.

4.3 Caller ID and Call Protection

The phone supports Caller ID display, allowing you to see who is calling before you answer. It also includes call protection features, which can be configured to block unwanted calls. Call lists and protection settings are synchronized between the base unit and the handset.

4.4 Amplifier Function and Hearing Aid Compatibility
