This manual provides detailed instructions to help you get the most out of your BuddyPhones Play Plus headphones.

Setup

Charging the Headphones

Before first use, fully charge your BuddyPhones Play Plus headphones. A full charge provides approximately 20 hours of battery life.

1. Locate the USB-C charging port on one of the earcups.
2. Connect the provided USB-C charging cable to the headphones and a compatible USB power source (e.g., computer, wall adapter).
3. The LED indicator light will show charging status (refer to the LED indicator section for details).
4. Once fully charged, disconnect the cable.

Bluetooth Pairing (Wireless Mode)

To connect your headphones wirelessly to a device:

1. Ensure the headphones are charged and powered off.
2. Press and hold the multi-function button (usually the center button on the earcup controls) for 2 seconds until the LED indicator flashes, indicating pairing mode.
3. On your device (smartphone, tablet, computer), go to Bluetooth settings and enable Bluetooth.
4. Select "BuddyPhones Play Plus" from the list of available devices.
5. Once connected, the LED indicator will show a steady light (refer to the LED indicator section for details).

Wired Connection (BuddyLink)

If the battery is low or for devices without Bluetooth, you can use the provided 3.5mm audio cable:

1. Plug one end of the 3.5mm audio cable into the audio input jack on the headphones.
2. Plug the other end into the audio output jack of your device.
3. The headphones will function in wired mode, even if the battery is depleted.

The BuddyLink feature allows sharing audio with another pair of BuddyPhones. Connect the 3.5mm cable from your Play Plus headphones to the BuddyLink port on another BuddyPhones device.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off

• To power on: Press and hold the multi-function button for 2 seconds.
• To power off: Press and hold the multi-function button for 4 seconds.

Volume Control and SafeAudio Modes

The BuddyPhones Play Plus features SafeAudio technology with three volume-limiting modes to protect children's hearing. The default mode is Kids Mode (85dB).

• Kids Mode (85dB): Recommended for general use, limiting volume to 85 decibels.
• Toddler Mode (75dB): For very young children or quiet environments, limiting volume to 75 decibels.
• Travel Mode (94dB): For noisy environments like airplanes, allowing a slightly higher volume up to 94 decibels for clearer listening.

To switch between volume limit modes:

1. Hold both the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons together for 2 seconds.
2. The LED indicator lights will flash to confirm the mode change:
   • Two Green LED lights: Kids Mode (0-85dB)
   • Three Purple LED lights: Travel Mode (0-94dB)
   • One Yellow LED light: Toddler Mode (0-75dB)

StudyMode

StudyMode isolates voices from other sounds, providing clear and precise vocals. This feature is ideal for studying, watching educational lessons, or making calls.

• To activate/deactivate StudyMode: Press the multi-function button twice quickly.

Microphone Use

The built-in microphone allows for hands-free communication, perfect for online classes, video calls, or voice recordings.

• To answer/end calls: Press the multi-function button once.
• To play/pause audio: Press the multi-function button once.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Wipe the headphones with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Storage: Store the headphones in the provided fabric travel bag when not in use to protect them from dust and scratches.
• Handling: While designed for durability, avoid excessive force when folding or adjusting the headphones.
• Materials: The headphones are made with BPA and phthalate-free materials.

Troubleshooting

Headphones Not Pairing

• Ensure the headphones are in pairing mode (flashing LED).
• Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device and it's within range (up to 10 meters).
• Try turning Bluetooth off and on again on your device.
• Perform a factory reset on the headphones.

No Sound or Low Volume

• Check the volume level on both the headphones and your connected device.
• Ensure the headphones are properly connected (Bluetooth or wired).
• Verify the SafeAudio mode setting; Toddler Mode (75dB) will have lower maximum volume.
• If using wired connection, ensure the 3.5mm cable is fully inserted into both devices.

Factory Reset

If you experience persistent issues, a factory reset can often resolve them:

1. Ensure the headphones are powered on.
2. Hold down both the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds.
3. The headphones will reset and automatically power off.
4. After resetting, you will need to re-pair the headphones with your device.
