Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for assembling the Revell 05175 Patrol Torpedo Boat PT-559 / PT-160 Model Kit. Assembly Instructions
Assembly requires plastic model cement and hobby tools (not included). Follow the numbered steps in the included instruction booklet for detailed guidance.
1. Preparation
- Carefully remove all parts from the sprues using a hobby knife or sprue cutters.
- Clean any excess plastic (flash) from the parts using a hobby knife or fine sandpaper.
- Test fit parts before applying glue to ensure proper alignment.
2. Hull Assembly
The kit features a two-part hull. Carefully join the two hull halves together, ensuring a tight seam. Use plastic cement sparingly along the edges. Allow sufficient drying time.

3. Detailed Superstructure
Assemble the various components of the superstructure according to the instruction diagrams. This includes the bridge, gun mounts, and other deck features. Pay close attention to the orientation of smaller parts.

4. Adding Details and Armaments
Attach the torpedo tubes, machine guns, and other small details to the deck and superstructure. Ensure all parts are securely glued. The kit includes a display stand for the finished model.

Painting and Decals
Once assembly is complete and glue has fully dried, the model can be painted. Refer to the instruction manual for recommended color schemes. Apply decals carefully using water and a soft brush, following the decal placement guide.
Care and Display
To maintain the appearance of your finished model, keep it away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Dust gently with a soft brush or compressed air. The included display stand provides a stable base for showcasing your model.
Troubleshooting
- Parts not fitting: Ensure all flash has been removed and parts are correctly oriented. Light sanding may be required.
- Missing parts: Double-check the sprues and packaging. If a part is genuinely missing, contact Revell customer support.
- Decals not adhering: Ensure the surface is clean and smooth. A decal setting solution may improve adhesion.
