PWAYTEK 4K HDMI Over Ethernet Extender Instruction Manual

Model: B0DKHN554P | Brand: PWAYTEK

Product Overview

The PWAYTEK 4K HDMI Over Ethernet Cat5e/6 Extender allows for the transmission of 4K@30Hz or 1080P HDMI signals up to 328 feet (100 meters) over a single Cat5e/6/7 Ethernet cable. This extender supports lossless audio and video transmission, Power Over Cable (POC) technology, and EDID management, making it an ideal solution for extending HDMI signals in various environments.

Key Features:

  • Long-Distance HDMI Signal Extension: Transmit 4K @ 30Hz up to 328 feet using CAT6/7 Ethernet cable. Ideal for home or office use with PCs, game consoles, Blu-ray players, media players, satellite boxes, and Android boxes. For best performance, use high-quality shielded cables to ensure optimal signal quality.
  • Power Over Cable (POC) Technology: Simplify installation with POC technology that delivers power through the same CAT6/7 cable, eliminating the need for a separate power source for the receiver. Just plug and play—no drivers required, making setup fast and hassle-free.
  • Local Loop-Out for Dual Display: Connect a display at both the transmitter and receiver ends with the Local Loop-Out feature. Enjoy minimal image quality loss thanks to M-JPEG compression technology, perfect for digital signage, meeting rooms, classrooms, gyms, bars, restaurants, and more.
  • Zero Signal Loss & Wide Compatibility: Supports resolutions including 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 4K @30Hz. Also supports a range of audio formats including PCM 7.1, Dolby True HD, and DTS HD. Features EDID management with local or remote EDID copy, ensuring seamless compatibility with a variety of displays and devices.

Installation Steps:

  1. Connect your HDMI source device (e.g., PC, game console, Blu-ray player) to the HDMI IN port of the Transmitter unit using an HDMI cable.
  2. Connect your HDMI display device (e.g., TV, monitor, projector) to the HDMI OUT port of the Receiver unit using an HDMI cable.
  3. Connect a single Cat5e/6/7 Ethernet cable between the UTP ports of the Transmitter and Receiver units. Ensure the cable length does not exceed 328 feet (100 meters) for optimal performance.
  4. Connect the included Power Supply Adapter to the DC 12V port on the Transmitter unit and plug it into a power outlet. Due to Power Over Cable (POC) technology, only the transmitter requires external power.
  5. Power on all connected devices (HDMI source and display). The extender is plug-and-play and does not require any drivers.

EDID Management:

The extender features EDID management with local or remote EDID copy, ensuring seamless compatibility with various displays and devices. This function helps the source device output the optimal resolution and audio format supported by the connected display.

Local Loop-Out Function:

The Local Loop-Out feature allows connecting a display at both the transmitter and receiver ends, providing dual display capability with minimal image quality loss. This is useful for monitoring the source signal locally while extending it to a remote display.

Maintenance

  • Keep the devices in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Avoid exposing the units to extreme temperatures, humidity, or corrosive substances.
  • Clean the units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Ensure all cable connections are secure and free from kinks or damage to prevent signal interruption.

Troubleshooting

No Picture/Signal:

  • Check all HDMI and Ethernet cable connections. Ensure they are securely plugged into the correct ports.
  • Verify that the power adapter is correctly connected to the transmitter unit and plugged into a working power outlet.
  • Ensure the Cat5e/6/7 cable is of high quality and meets the length requirements (up to 328ft). Lower quality or damaged cables can cause signal degradation or loss.
  • Confirm that the source device (e.g., PC, Blu-ray player) is powered on and outputting a signal.
  • Try adjusting the resolution of the source device to a supported resolution (e.g., 1080p) to see if a picture appears, then gradually increase if successful.

Flickering/Intermittent Signal:

  • This can be caused by poor quality or excessively long Ethernet cables. Use high-quality shielded Cat6 or Cat7 cables for optimal performance.
  • Ensure there are no strong electromagnetic interferences near the cable run.
  • Power cycle both the transmitter and receiver units by unplugging and re-plugging the power adapter.

No Audio:

  • Check audio settings on both the source device and the display.
  • Ensure the HDMI cable supports audio transmission.
  • Verify that the audio format is supported by the extender (PCM 7.1, Dolby True HD, DTS HD).
