1. Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of your XtremepowerUS 19-inch Sand Filter System. Please read all instructions thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and longevity of the product. This sand filter system is designed for efficient filtration of swimming pool water, suitable for both in-ground and above-ground pools up to 24,000 gallons.
2. Safety Information
Always observe basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of injury or property damage. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Ensure the power supply to the pump is disconnected before performing any service or maintenance.
- Do not operate the filter system if any part is damaged or missing.
- Keep children away from the filter system during operation.
- Ensure proper ventilation if installed in an enclosed space.
- Consult a qualified professional for electrical connections if you are unsure.
3. Product Overview and Components
The XtremepowerUS 19-inch Sand Filter System consists of a durable filter tank, a multi-port valve, and a pressure gauge. These components work together to provide effective water filtration.

3.1 Multi-Port Valve Functions
The multi-port valve allows you to control the flow of water through the filter system, enabling various operations. The valve typically includes seven positions:

Figure 3.2: Diagram illustrating the seven essential functions of the multi-port valve system.
- FILTER: Normal filtering mode. Water passes through the sand media, trapping debris.
- BACKWASH: Reverses water flow to clean the filter sand, sending dirty water to waste.
- RINSE: Used after backwashing to flush out any remaining debris from the valve and sand bed before returning to filter mode.
- WASTE: Drains water directly from the pool to waste, bypassing the filter. Useful for vacuuming heavy debris or lowering pool water level.
- RE-CIRCULATE: Circulates water through the system without passing it through the filter sand. Useful for chemical distribution.
- CLOSED: Stops all water flow through the valve. Use with caution and only when the pump is off.
- WINTER: Prepares the system for winter storage, typically by draining water from the valve.

4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. If any parts are damaged or missing, contact customer support immediately.
4.2 Placement
Position the filter system on a firm, level surface, preferably concrete, as close to the pool as possible. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for maintenance and operation. The system dimensions are approximately 19.5" (W) x 19.5" (L) x 35.5" (H).
4.3 Sand Loading
The 19-inch filter tank requires approximately 175 lbs of filter sand (media sand). Follow these steps:
- Ensure the drain plug is securely closed at the bottom of the tank.
- Place the standpipe (with laterals attached) inside the tank. Use the provided cone or a similar device to center the standpipe and cover its opening to prevent sand from entering.
- Carefully pour the filter sand into the tank. Distribute it evenly around the standpipe.
- Once all sand is added, remove the cone/cover from the standpipe.

4.4 Plumbing Connections
Connect the multi-port valve to the filter tank and then connect the plumbing from your pool pump and return lines to the appropriate ports on the multi-port valve. The system uses threaded connections. Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks. Adapters and hoses are sold separately.

4.5 Initial Startup
Before starting the pump, ensure the pool is filled to the proper level and all valves are open. Prime the pump according to its manufacturer's instructions. Set the multi-port valve to the
