4. Setup

Attaching the Auxiliary Handle:

  1. Loosen the auxiliary handle by twisting it counter-clockwise.
  2. Slide the handle over the front of the tool body to the desired position.
  3. Tighten the handle by twisting it clockwise until secure.

Installing SDS Plus Bits/Chisels:

  1. Ensure the tool is unplugged from the power source.
  2. Clean the shank of the drill bit or chisel.
  3. Pull back the SDS Plus chuck collar.
  4. Insert the bit/chisel into the chuck until it clicks into place.
  5. Release the chuck collar. Pull on the bit/chisel to ensure it is securely locked. There will be a slight axial play, which is normal for SDS Plus systems.

Setting the Depth Gauge:

  1. Insert the depth gauge into the hole on the auxiliary handle.
  2. Adjust the gauge to the desired drilling depth.
  3. Tighten the auxiliary handle to secure the depth gauge.

5. Operating Instructions

Selecting the Operating Mode:

The APT Z1C-Dw-36 features a mode selector switch for different applications:

  • Drill Mode: For drilling in wood, metal, and plastic without hammer action.
  • Hammer Drill Mode: For drilling in concrete, masonry, and stone with hammer action.
  • Chisel Mode: For chiseling, chipping, and demolition work.

Rotate the mode selector switch to the desired icon. Ensure the switch is fully engaged in the chosen position before starting the tool.

Starting and Stopping:

  • To start the tool, press the trigger switch.
  • To stop the tool, release the trigger switch.

Working with the Rotary Hammer:

  1. Secure your workpiece.
  2. Hold the tool firmly with both hands, using the main and auxiliary handles.
  3. Position the drill bit or chisel on the desired spot.
  4. Press the trigger switch to start the tool. Apply steady, even pressure. Do not force the tool.
  5. Allow the tool to do the work. Excessive pressure can reduce efficiency and damage the tool or bit.
  6. When finished, release the trigger switch and wait for the tool to come to a complete stop before setting it down.
