Key Features:
- Non-Contact Detection: Safely detects AC voltage without physical contact.
- Dual Voltage Range: Switchable between 12V-1000V (high sensitivity) and 48V-1000V (low sensitivity).
- Live/Null Wire Judgment: Distinguishes between live and null wires with distinct visual and audible indicators.
- Breakpoint Location: Helps locate breaks in live wires.
- LED Flashlight: Integrated flashlight for illumination in dark work areas.
- Audible and Visual Alarms: Buzzer and LED indicators (Green/Yellow/Red) provide clear feedback on voltage presence and strength.
- Auto Power-Off: Automatically shuts off after 5 minutes of inactivity or no voltage detection to conserve battery life.
- Portable Design: Compact size with a pocket clip for easy transport.
3. Setup
Battery Installation
The LOMVUM FY18C is powered by two AAA batteries. To install or replace batteries:
- Unscrew the battery compartment cap at the top of the tester.
- Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Screw the battery compartment cap back on securely.

When the 'Switch' indicator flickers three times and the buzzer disappears, it indicates low battery. Replace the batteries promptly for accurate readings.
4. Operating Instructions
Power On/Off and Flashlight Function
- Press the power button (usually marked with a power symbol) to turn the device on. The LED indicator will light up.
- Press the flashlight button (usually marked with a flashlight symbol) to activate the LED flashlight. Press again to turn it off.
- The device will automatically power off after 5 minutes of no operation or voltage detection.

Figure 4.1: The voltage tester's flashlight function is demonstrated, illuminating a dark circuit breaker box for improved visibility during electrical work.
Dual Voltage Range Detection
The tester offers two sensitivity modes:
- Low Sensitivity (48V-1000V): Default mode, suitable for general voltage detection.
- High Sensitivity (12V-1000V): For detecting lower voltages or in situations where higher sensitivity is required.
To switch between ranges, press the 'S' button. When the 'S' indicator lights up red, the high sensitivity mode is active.

Figure 4.2: Illustration of the 'S' button for sensitivity switching. 'Key S Off' indicates Low Sensitivity (48-1000V), while 'Key S On' indicates High Sensitivity (12-1000V).
Live and Null Wire Judgment
To distinguish between live and null wires:
- Place the tester's tip near the wire or terminal.
- Live Wire: The tester will emit a rapid buzzer sound, and the red LED indicator will flash.
- Null Wire: The tester will emit a slow buzzer sound, and the green LED indicator will light up.

Figure 4.3: The tester is shown differentiating between a null wire (flashing green light, low test voltage, slow buzzer) and a live wire (flashing red light, high test voltage, rapid buzzer) when testing an electrical outlet.
Voltage Level Indication
The tester provides visual and audible indications for different voltage levels:
- Low Test Voltage: Green LED lights up, slow buzzer.
- Medium Test Voltage: Yellow LED lights up, medium buzzer.
- High Test Voltage: Red LED lights up, rapid buzzer.

Figure 4.4: The tester indicates low, medium, and high test voltage levels with corresponding green, yellow, and red LED lights and varying buzzer speeds when near an electrical outlet.
Breakpoint Judgment
To locate a breakpoint in a live wire:
- Ensure the wire is live and the tester is in high sensitivity mode.
- Move the tester along the length of the wire.
- The red LED and rapid buzzer will indicate the presence of voltage. When the indicators stop, it signifies a breakpoint in the wire.

Figure 4.5: The tester is shown detecting a breakpoint in a wire. A flashing red light indicates voltage presence, while a flashing green light indicates no voltage, helping to pinpoint the break. The image also highlights the insulating plastics for safety.
Socket Testing
To test an electrical socket:
- Insert the tip of the tester into each slot of the socket.
- The tester will indicate live and null connections as described in the Live/Null Wire Judgment section.
Video 4.1: This video demonstrates the LOMVUM Non-Contact Voltage Tester in action, showing how to test for live and null wires, perform breakpoint location, and check sockets. It highlights the visual and audible indicators for different voltage conditions and the utility of the built-in flashlight.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries as soon as the low battery indicator appears to ensure accurate operation.
- Storage: Store the tester in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
6. Troubleshooting
- Device does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- Inconsistent readings: Ensure the tester tip is close enough to the conductor. Check for environmental interference. Replace batteries if low.
- No indication on a known live circuit: Verify the device is powered on and batteries are good. Try switching to high sensitivity mode.
