Model: CDLI1221

1. Important Safety Instructions

Always read and understand all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

Work Area Safety

  • Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
  • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical Safety

  • Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way.
  • Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
  • Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.

Personal Safety

  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool.
  • Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hats, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
  • Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to a power source, picking up, or carrying the tool.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Selecting Speed

  • The drill has two mechanical speed settings:
  • Speed 1 (Low): 0-350 RPM. Use for high torque applications like driving screws or drilling large holes in soft materials.
  • Speed 2 (High): 0-1350 RPM. Use for fast drilling in wood, plastic, or metal with smaller bits.
  • To change speed, slide the speed selector switch located on top of the drill. Ensure the drill is stopped before changing speeds.

4.2 Adjusting Torque

  • The torque adjustment ring has 15+1 settings. The numbered settings (1-15) are for driving screws, with higher numbers providing more torque before the clutch engages.
  • The drill symbol setting is for drilling, providing maximum torque without clutch engagement.
  • Rotate the torque adjustment ring to select the desired setting. Start with a lower setting for softer materials or smaller screws and increase as needed.

4.3 Drilling and Driving

  1. Select the appropriate speed and torque setting for your task.
  2. Set the forward/reverse selector to the desired rotation (forward for drilling/driving, reverse for removing screws).
  3. Position the drill bit or screwdriver bit on the workpiece.
  4. Press the trigger switch to start the drill. The variable speed allows for precise control; press lightly for slower speed and harder for faster speed.
  5. Apply steady, even pressure. Do not force the drill.
  6. The integrated LED light will illuminate the work area when the trigger is pressed.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Always disconnect the battery pack before performing any cleaning or maintenance.
  • Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the exterior of the drill. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Keep the ventilation openings clear of dust and debris to prevent overheating. Use compressed air if necessary.
  • Clean the chuck jaws regularly to ensure proper grip on bits.

5.2 Storage

  • Store the drill and battery pack in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) before long-term storage.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
