The Utilitech Canless Color Selectable LED Recessed Lighting Kit offers an easy-to-install lighting solution without requiring an existing recessed can or junction box. It is designed for both indoor and outdoor residential, hospitality, commercial, and multifamily applications, especially in areas with confined or hard-to-reach spaces.

5. Installation Instructions

Follow these steps for a safe and proper installation:

1. Turn Off Power: Before starting any electrical work, ensure the power is turned off at the circuit breaker to the area where you will be installing the lights.
2. Prepare Opening: Using the provided template or measuring 4 inches (10.16 cm), cut a circular hole in the drywall at the desired location for each light fixture. Ensure there are no obstructions (like joists or pipes) within the ceiling space.
3. Connect Wiring: Open the integrated junction box. Run your electrical supply cable (line voltage) into the junction box through one of the knockouts. Connect the wires using the quick-connect terminals: black to black (live), white to white (neutral), and bare copper or green to green (ground). Secure the cable with the provided strain relief.
4. Daisy Chain (Optional): If installing multiple lights in a series, daisy chain additional wire from the quick connect terminals through another knockout to the next canless retrofit kit's junction box.
5. Select Color Temperature: Before inserting the fixture into the ceiling, locate the color temperature switch on the junction box. Select your desired color temperature (2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 5000K, or 6500K) by sliding the switch.
6. Insert Fixture: Gently push the spring-loaded clips on the sides of the light fixture upwards and insert the fixture into the prepared hole in the ceiling. The springs will pull the fixture up, securing it flush against the ceiling for an airtight seal.
7. Restore Power: Once all fixtures are securely installed and wired, turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

Your Utilitech Canless Recessed Downlight is designed for simple operation:

• Power On/Off: Control the light using a standard wall switch connected to the circuit.
• Color Temperature Selection: The color temperature is set via a switch on the junction box during installation. To change it, you will need to access the junction box again.
• Dimming: This fixture is dimmable. Use a compatible LED dimmer switch (sold separately) for adjustable brightness. Refer to your dimmer switch's instructions for proper operation.

The Utilitech Canless Recessed Downlight requires minimal maintenance:

• Cleaning: Ensure power is off before cleaning. Wipe the fixture with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Bulb Replacement: This fixture uses integrated LED technology and does not require bulb replacement. The LEDs are designed to last for 50,000 hours.
• Inspection: Periodically inspect the fixture for any signs of damage or loose connections. If any issues are found, turn off power and consult a qualified electrician.
