3-Phase Technology
The Nuvita Materno Smart 1287M utilizes an exclusive 3-phase technology designed to optimize milk expression by mimicking a baby's natural feeding pattern.

Image: A diagram illustrating the three phases of the Nuvita breast pump technology: Stimulation (1st phase), Expression (2nd phase), and Anti-stasis (3rd phase), along with the 9 customizable intensity levels.
- Phase 1: Stimulation
This phase uses rapid, shallow suction to encourage milk let-down. It prepares the breast for expression. There are 9 levels of automatic massage and stimulation.
- Phase 2: Expression
Following stimulation, this phase switches to a slower, deeper suction to promote a greater milk flow. There are 9 customizable extraction levels.
- Phase 3: Anti-stasis (Exclusive Function)
This optional phase, exclusive to Nuvita breast pumps, can be selected to facilitate complete emptying of the breast. It helps prevent galactostasis (milk stasis) and engorgement.
Adjusting Intensity Levels
Both Stimulation and Expression phases offer 9 levels of intensity. Use the '+' and '-' buttons on the touch screen display to adjust the suction strength to your comfort. Start with a lower setting and gradually increase until you find the most effective and comfortable level.
Converting to a Double Breast Pump
The Nuvita Materno Smart 1287M can be converted into a double electric breast pump by purchasing the Kit Doppio (sold separately). This modular system allows you to adapt the pump to your needs, offering flexibility between single and double pumping.

Cleaning and Maintenance
Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for hygiene and the longevity of your breast pump.
- Before First Use and After Each Use: Disassemble all parts that come into contact with breast milk (breast shield, silicone diaphragm, valve, bottle). Wash them thoroughly with warm soapy water and rinse well.
- Sterilization: These parts can be sterilized by boiling in water for 5 minutes, using a steam sterilizer, or a dishwasher (top rack recommended). The product is dishwasher safe.
- Main Unit: The main unit and connecting tube should not be washed or immersed in water. Wipe them clean with a damp cloth. The touch screen display is designed without crevices for easy cleaning.
- Drying: Allow all parts to air dry completely on a clean surface or use a clean cloth.
