5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Inserting M.2 SATA SSDs

  1. Ensure the docking station is disconnected from power and your computer.
  2. Carefully insert your M.2 SATA SSDs into the designated vertical slots. The device supports M.2 SATA SSDs only. NVMe SSDs are not compatible.
  3. Ensure the SSDs are firmly seated in the slots.

5.2 Connecting to a Computer

  1. Connect the provided power adapter to the DC 5V/3A input port on the docking station and then to a power outlet.
  2. Connect the USB Type-A to Type-C cable from the docking station's data transfer port to an available USB port on your computer.
  3. The device is plug-and-play and should be recognized automatically by your operating system (Windows, Mac, Linux).

5.3 Initializing and Formatting New SSDs

For new SSDs, you may need to initialize and format them before use. This process is typically done through your operating system's Disk Management utility.

  1. For Windows: Right-click on "This PC" (or "My Computer"), select "Manage", then "Disk Management".
  2. Locate the unallocated disk, right-click it, and select "Initialize Disk". Choose GPT for disks larger than 2TB or MBR for smaller disks.
  3. Right-click the unallocated space on the initialized disk and select "New Simple Volume" to format it and assign a drive letter.

6.2 Offline Cloning Function

The MAIWO K3016S supports offline cloning, allowing you to duplicate an M.2 SATA SSD without connecting to a computer. This is ideal for system backups or upgrading your SSD.

  1. Ensure the docking station is disconnected from your computer.
  2. Insert the Source Disk (the SSD you want to clone from) into the designated Source slot.
  3. Insert the Target Disk (the SSD you want to clone to) into the designated Target slot. The Target Disk must be equal to or larger in capacity than the Source Disk.
  4. Connect the power adapter to the docking station and a power outlet.
  5. Press and hold the "Clone" button (usually labeled with a duplicate icon) for a few seconds until the cloning process begins. Indicator lights will show the progress.
  6. Do not disconnect power or remove SSDs during the cloning process.
  7. Once all indicator lights are solid, the cloning process is complete. You can then safely disconnect power and remove the SSDs.

Note: The offline cloning function only works for M.2 SATA SSDs. Ensure both source and target disks are M.2 SATA type.
