4. Setup
4.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the air purifier from its packaging. Ensure all packing materials are removed before use.
4.2 Filter Installation
The MEDION MD 10171 uses a 3-stage filtration system. The filters are typically pre-installed but may require removal of protective packaging before first use.
- Turn the air purifier upside down and twist the base counter-clockwise to unlock and remove it.
- Remove the filter assembly. If new, remove any plastic wrapping from the filter.
- Insert the filter back into the unit, ensuring it is seated correctly.
- Replace the base and twist clockwise to lock it securely.

4.3 Placement
Place the air purifier on a flat, stable surface. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit (at least 20 cm) for proper air circulation. The MEDION MD 10171 is suitable for rooms up to 52 square meters.

4.4 Power Connection
Plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
Press the Power button on the control panel to turn the air purifier on or off.
5.2 Fan Speed Adjustment
Press the Fan Speed button to cycle through different fan speed settings (e.g., Low, Medium, High).
5.3 Automatic Mode and Air Quality Display
The air purifier features an automatic mode that adjusts fan speed based on detected air quality. The circular LED indicator on the control panel displays the current air quality:
- Blue: Very good air quality
- Green: Good air quality
- Orange: Unhealthy air quality
- Red: Dangerous air quality
5.4 Sleep Mode
Activate Sleep Mode for extra quiet operation, ideal for nighttime use. In this mode, the operating noise is lowered to 29 dB, and display lights may dim or turn off.

5.5 Timer Function
Use the Timer button to set the air purifier to operate for a specific duration (e.g., 2H, 4H, 8H) before automatically turning off.
5.6 App Control
The MEDION MD 10171 can be conveniently controlled via the MEDION Air App, available for download on the App Store and Google Play. Follow the app's instructions to connect your device and access additional features, including voice control.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Filter Replacement
The air purifier will notify you when a filter replacement is due. The filter lifetime depends on usage and air quality. Replace the filter promptly to maintain optimal performance.
- Unplug the air purifier from the power outlet.
- Remove the base and old filter as described in Section 4.2.
- Dispose of the old filter responsibly.
- Install a new, genuine MEDION replacement filter.
- Replace and lock the base.
- Plug in the air purifier. You may need to reset the filter replacement indicator by pressing and holding a specific button (refer to the app or control panel for specific instructions).
6.2 Cleaning
Wipe the exterior of the air purifier with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no water enters the unit.

- Unit not turning on: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into the outlet and the unit. Ensure the filter is correctly installed and the base is locked.
