How to Play

Game Objective

The goal of The Game of Life is to accumulate the most wealth by the time you reach retirement. Wealth includes money, assets, and investments.

Taking a Turn

  1. Spin the Spinner: On your turn, spin the spinner. The number you land on indicates how many spaces you move your car.
  2. Move Your Car: Move your car along the path in the direction of the arrows. If you pass a 'Pay Day' space, collect your salary from the Banker.
  3. Follow Space Instructions: When you land on a space, follow the instructions printed on it. This may involve drawing cards, paying or collecting money, making life choices, or adding pegs to your car.

Life Choices and Events

  • College or Career: At the start, choose whether to go to college (incurring debt) or start a career immediately.
  • Career Spaces: Land on a 'Career' space to draw a Career card and determine your salary.
  • House Spaces: Purchase a house when you land on a 'House' space.
  • Marriage and Family: Land on 'Get Married' or 'Have a Baby' spaces to add pegs to your car, representing your family.
  • Investing: Players can invest in numbers on the board. If another player lands on that number, the investor receives money.
  • Action Spaces: Draw an Action card and follow its instructions.

Winning the Game

The game ends when all players reach the 'Retirement' space. Once all players have retired, they pay off any outstanding loans, sell their houses, and count their total wealth (money + value of Life cards). The player with the most money wins!
