Setup
- Placement: Place the heater on a firm, level surface. Ensure there are no obstructions to the air inlet or outlet. Maintain at least 6 inches of clearance from walls and other objects. This heater is designed for indoor use only.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord directly into a standard 120V AC wall outlet. Avoid using extension cords or power strips.
Operating Instructions
The Velocity 5R can be operated using its integrated LED touch controls or the included remote control.
Controls and Display

- Power Button: Press to turn the unit ON or OFF.
- Heat Settings: Toggle between HIGH heat, LOW heat, or FAN ONLY mode.
- Temperature Adjustment: Use the '+' and '-' buttons to set your desired room temperature. The heater will automatically adjust its output to maintain this setting.
- Timer: Press the timer button to set the heater to operate for 1 to 12 hours. The unit will automatically shut off after the set time.
- Bedtime Mode: Activates a dimming function for the LED display, ideal for use in bedrooms.
- Lock Controls: Press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds to lock or unlock the control panel.
Remote Control
The compact remote control duplicates all functions available on the main control panel, allowing for convenient operation from a distance.
Auto Climate Control
The heater intelligently senses the ambient room temperature and adjusts its heat output and fan speed to maintain your set temperature efficiently.

Maintenance
Regular cleaning is recommended to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your heater.
- Cleaning: Always unplug the heater before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use gasoline, thinners, solvents, or other chemicals. Periodically vacuum the air inlet and outlet grilles to remove dust and debris.
- Storage: When not in use, store the heater in its original packaging or a clean, dry place. The power cord can be neatly stored in the integrated cord storage compartment on the back of the unit.
Troubleshooting
If your Vornado heater is not operating as expected, consult the following common issues and solutions:
- Unit does not power on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Check if the circuit breaker has tripped. Verify the power button is pressed.
- No heat output: Confirm the desired temperature setting is higher than the current room temperature. Check that the heat setting is not in 'FAN ONLY' mode.
- Unit shuts off unexpectedly: This may indicate activation of the tip-over protection or automatic safety shut-off. Ensure the unit is on a stable surface and clear any obstructions from the air inlets/outlets. Allow the unit to cool down before restarting.
