4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Device

4.2 Installing the Mi Home App

For full functionality, download and install the Mi Home app on your smartphone or tablet. The app is available on both iOS and Android app stores. Search for "Mi Home" and follow the on-screen instructions for installation and account creation.

4.3 Pairing with the Mi Home App

1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
2. Open the Mi Home app and log in.
3. Power on the HOTO Laser Measuring Tool by pressing the main button.
4. In the Mi Home app, tap the "+" icon to add a new device. The app should automatically detect the laser measuring tool.
5. Follow the app's prompts to complete the pairing process.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Measurement

1. Power on the device by pressing the main button. The OLED display will light up.
2. Point the laser beam at the target surface.
3. Press the main button again to initiate the measurement. The distance will be displayed on the OLED screen within 0.2 seconds.

5.2 Measurement Modes

The device supports two measurement reference points:

• Front-based mode: Measures from the front edge of the device. Ideal for free measurements.
• Tail-based mode: Measures from the rear edge of the device. Ideal for edge measurements (e.g., from a wall).

To switch between modes, use the Mi Home app. This setting is managed within the app interface.

• Unit Conversion: Switch between meters (M), inches (in), and feet (Ft) directly in the app.
