2. Safety Instructions

  • Always ensure all knobs and fasteners are securely tightened before placing a canvas or beginning work.
  • Do not overtighten adjustment knobs, especially the top clamp, as this may cause damage to the wood. A snug, firm grip is sufficient.
  • Place the easel on a flat, stable surface to prevent tipping.
  • Keep fingers clear of moving parts during adjustment to avoid pinching.
  • Avoid exposing the easel to extreme humidity or direct sunlight for prolonged periods, which can affect wood integrity.
  • When moving the easel, ensure it is folded or secured to prevent accidental unfolding or damage.

3. Package Contents

Before assembly, verify that all components are present and undamaged. The package should include:

  • Pre-cut and labeled beech wood components for the H-frame, base, mast, and trays.
  • Individually packed hardware (screws, nuts, washers, adjustment knobs).
  • Assembly tools (e.g., wrench, screwdriver).
  • Instruction manual.

If any parts are missing or damaged, please contact VISWIN customer support.

The easel features an adjustable tray and mast to accommodate various canvas sizes and user preferences (sitting or standing).

  • Tray Adjustment: Loosen the knobs on the sides of the tray. Slide the tray up or down to your desired height. The tray can adjust from near the ground up to 44 inches (1118 mm) high. Securely tighten the knobs once the desired position is achieved.
  • Mast Extension: The center mast can be extended to hold canvases up to 78 inches (1981 mm) in height. Loosen the top knob, extend the mast, and then tighten the knob to secure the canvas.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe the easel with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and paint residue. For stubborn marks, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Wood Care: To maintain the wood's finish and prevent drying, consider applying a wood conditioner or refreshing the varnish every two years or as needed.
  • Hardware Check: Periodically check all screws and knobs to ensure they are tight. Tighten any loose fasteners to maintain stability.
  • Lubrication: If the angle adjustment mechanism becomes stiff, a small amount of bar soap applied to the sliding areas can improve glide.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Easel feels unstable: Ensure all assembly screws and adjustment knobs are fully tightened. Verify the easel is on a level surface.
  • Canvas not held securely: Ensure the top clamp and bottom tray knobs are tightened firmly against the canvas. For thinner canvases (e.g., 3/4 inch thick), you may need to use a piece of backing material (like styrofoam) behind the canvas to ensure a snug fit.
  • Tray has slight movement: If the tray exhibits minor play, place a level on the tray before tightening its knobs to ensure your canvas remains straight.
  • Adjustment knobs are difficult to turn: Apply a small amount of lubricant (such as silicone spray or a dry lubricant) to the threads of the knobs.
  • Wood cracking or splitting: Avoid overtightening any knobs. If damage occurs, contact customer support for replacement parts.
