  1. Plug In: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
  2. Select Speed:

    • Press the HIGH button for faster processing, suitable for harder ingredients or quick chopping.
    • Press and hold the OFF/PULSE button for intermittent processing. Release to stop. This is useful for controlled chopping or preventing over-processing.

Processing Tips:

  • For best chopping results, process similar-sized pieces of food.
  • Do not overload the work bowl. Process in batches if necessary.
  • For liquids, ensure the work bowl is not filled above the liquid maximum line to prevent leaks.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your food processor.

Cleaning Instructions:

  1. Unplug: Always unplug the food processor from the electrical outlet before cleaning.
  2. Disassemble: Carefully remove the lid, blades/discs, and work bowl from the motor base.
  3. Work Bowl, Lid, and Accessories: The work bowl, lid, multi-purpose blade, adjustable slicing disc, reversible shredding disc, dough blade, and storage caddy are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended) or can be hand washed in warm, soapy water. Handle blades and discs with extreme care due to their sharpness.
  4. Motor Base: Wipe the motor base clean with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the motor base in water or other liquids.
  5. Quick Clean Feature: For a quick clean of the work bowl and blades, add warm water and 1-2 drops of dish soap to the leak-resistant bowl, secure the lid, and pulse for a few seconds. Then rinse.
  6. Drying and Storage: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling or storing. Store blades and discs in the provided storage caddy inside the work bowl.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your food processor, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Food processor does not start. Not plugged in; lid not securely latched; work bowl not securely attached. Ensure the power cord is firmly plugged into a grounded outlet. Check that the work bowl is twisted and locked onto the base, and the lid is securely latched. The safety interlock prevents operation if not properly assembled.
Motor sounds strained or stops. Overloading the work bowl; ingredients are too hard or large. Reduce the amount of ingredients. Cut larger items into smaller, more manageable pieces. If the motor stops, unplug, remove some ingredients, and wait a few minutes before restarting.
Ingredients are unevenly processed. Ingredients are not uniform in size; over-processing. Ensure ingredients are cut into similar sizes before processing. Use the pulse function for better control over consistency.
Lid leaks during processing. Work bowl overfilled with liquid. Do not fill liquids above the maximum liquid fill line indicated on the work bowl.
Dough blade comes loose during kneading. Dough is too stiff or heavy for the appliance. This food processor is designed for various doughs, but extremely stiff or large batches of yeast dough may be challenging. Reduce dough quantity or consider a stand mixer for very heavy doughs.

If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact KitchenAid Customer Service.
