5. Installation and Setup

Important: Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician to ensure safety and compliance with local electrical codes. Disconnect power before installation.

5.1 DIN Rail Mounting

  1. Ensure the power supply to the circuit is completely off.
  2. Locate a standard 35mm DIN rail within your electrical panel or enclosure.
  3. Align the TM616 timer with the DIN rail. The yellow clip on the bottom (refer to Figure 3.3) should engage with the rail.
  4. Press the timer firmly onto the DIN rail until it clicks securely into place.

5.2 Wiring Connections

Refer to the wiring diagram on the side of the unit (Figure 3.2) and the specific voltage model (110V, 220V, or 12V) for correct connections. The TM616 typically has terminals for power input (L, N) and load output (NO, NC, COM for relay contacts).

  • Connect the incoming Live (L) and Neutral (N) wires to the designated power input terminals of the timer.
  • Connect the Live wire from your load (e.g., light, appliance) to the Normally Open (NO) terminal of the timer's relay.
  • Connect the Common (COM) terminal of the timer's relay to the Live wire of your power supply.
  • Ensure all connections are tight and secure.

Note: The specific wiring configuration may vary slightly depending on whether you are using the Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC) contact for your application. Always consult the diagram on the device and local electrical standards.

5.3 Initial Power-Up

After wiring, restore power to the circuit. The timer's LCD display should illuminate. If the display is blank, check power connections.

Upon first power-up or after a prolonged power outage, the internal battery may need to charge for a few minutes before full functionality is available. The display might show "OFF" or a default time.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Setting Current Time and Day

  1. Press the "Clock" button and hold it.
  2. While holding "Clock", press "Week" to set the current day of the week (MO, TU, WE, TH, FR, SA, SU).
  3. While holding "Clock", press "Hour" to set the current hour.
  4. While holding "Clock", press "Minute" to set the current minute.
  5. Release the "Clock" button. The time is now set.

    • OFF: The timer output is forced OFF, overriding all programs.
  • Select "ON AUTO" or "OFF AUTO" to resume normal programmed operation.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the timer's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery: The internal rechargeable battery is designed for long life and typically does not require replacement. It charges automatically when the timer is connected to power. If the display is consistently blank or loses time rapidly after power outages, the battery may be depleted or at the end of its life.
  • Environment: Ensure the timer is installed in a dry environment, free from excessive dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures, within the specified operating range (-20°C to +50°C).

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Display is blank or dim.No power supply; internal battery depleted.Check power connections. Allow timer to charge for 10-15 minutes after connecting to power.
Timer does not turn ON/OFF at programmed times.Incorrect programming; manual override active; wiring issue.
  • Verify programmed ON/OFF times and days.
  • Check if the "Manual" mode is set to "ON" or "OFF" instead of "ON AUTO" or "OFF AUTO".
  • Ensure wiring is correct and secure, especially the load connections. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.
Time is inaccurate.Initial setting error; extreme temperature.Reset the current time and day (Section 6.1). The timer has an auto-correction feature, but significant deviations might indicate environmental factors.
Programs are lost after power outage.Internal battery is not holding charge. The internal battery may be at the end of its life. While not user-replaceable, ensure the unit is consistently powered to allow the battery to charge.
