- Samson SP03 Lightweight Spider Shockmount
- 5/8" to 3/8" Thread Adapter
5. Setup Instructions
Attach to Microphone Stand: Locate the threaded insert at the base of the SP03 shockmount. Screw the shockmount onto the 5/8" threaded post of your microphone stand or boom arm. If your stand has a 3/8" thread, use the included 5/8" to 3/8" adapter by screwing it into the shockmount first, then onto the stand.

Insert Microphone: Gently push your compatible Samson condenser microphone into the center ring of the shockmount. The elastic bands will securely hold the microphone in place, providing suspension and isolating it from vibrations.

Adjust Angle: Use the adjustment knob on the side of the shockmount to loosen, adjust the angle of your microphone as needed, and then tighten to secure its position.

6. Operating Instructions
Once the SP03 shockmount is properly set up with your microphone, its operation is passive. It continuously works to absorb vibrations and handling noise, providing a cleaner audio signal to your recording device or mixer. No active controls are present on the shockmount itself.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the shockmount. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the plastic and elastic components.
- Elastic Bands: Periodically inspect the elastic suspension bands for any signs of wear, stretching, or damage. While durable, these bands may degrade over time with heavy use or exposure to extreme conditions. Replacement bands may be available from Samson customer support.
- Storage: Store the shockmount in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone not fitting securely. | Incompatible microphone model or worn elastic bands. | Verify your microphone is one of the compatible Samson models (C01, C03, CL7, CL7A, CL8, CL8A, C01U, C01U Pro, C03U). If bands are worn, consider replacing them. |
| Vibrations still audible in recordings. | Excessive vibration source, loose shockmount, or damaged elastic bands. | Ensure the shockmount is tightly secured to the microphone stand. Check elastic bands for damage. Reduce external vibration sources if possible. |
| Shockmount wobbles on stand. | Loose connection to stand or incorrect adapter use. | Tighten the shockmount onto the microphone stand. Ensure the 5/8" to 3/8" adapter is correctly used if required and fully tightened. |
