1. Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

• Read all instructions before using the coffee brewer.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the coffee brewer in water or other liquid.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
• Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
• The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
• Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
• Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'off', then remove plug from wall outlet.
• Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
• Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.
• This appliance is for household use only.

3. Setup

3.1 Initial Cleaning

Before first use, it is recommended to clean the coffee brewer. This helps remove any dust or residue from manufacturing.

1. Remove all packaging materials and stickers.
2. Wash the reusable filter basket and K-Cup pod adapter with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
3. Wipe the exterior of the brewer with a damp cloth.

3.2 First Use (Cleaning Cycle)

Perform a cleaning cycle without coffee to prime the system and remove any residual manufacturing odors.

1. Fill the water reservoir with clean water (6-14 oz).
2. Place an empty mug or cup on the drip tray.
3. Close the lid securely without any K-Cup pod or ground coffee in place.
4. Press the 'Brew' button. The brewer will start a cycle, dispensing hot water into the mug.
5. Once the cycle is complete, discard the hot water. Your brewer is now ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

The Vimukun KCM010A offers two convenient ways to brew your coffee: using K-Cup pods or your own ground coffee.

4.1 Brewing with K-Cup Pods

1. Add Water: Open the lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water. You can add between 6 to 14 ounces of water, depending on your desired coffee strength and cup size.
2. Insert K-Cup Pod: Place a K-Cup pod into the K-Cup pod adapter. Ensure it is seated correctly.
3. Close Lid: Close the lid firmly until it clicks into place.
4. Place Mug: Position your coffee mug or travel mug (up to 7.5 inches tall) on the drip tray.
5. Brew: Press the 'Brew' button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin. The process typically takes about 90 seconds for a 6oz cup.
6. Enjoy: Once brewing is complete, the brewer will automatically shut off. Carefully remove your hot coffee.

4.2 Brewing with Ground Coffee

1. Add Water: Open the lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water (6-14 oz).
2. Fill Reusable Filter: Open the reusable filter basket and fill it with your desired amount of ground coffee. Do not overfill. Close the filter.
3. Insert Filter: Place the filled reusable filter basket into the brewer.
4. Close Lid: Close the lid firmly until it clicks into place.
5. Place Mug: Position your coffee mug or travel mug (up to 7.5 inches tall) on the drip tray.
6. Brew: Press the 'Brew' button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
7. Enjoy: Once brewing is complete, the brewer will automatically shut off. Carefully remove your hot coffee.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Vimukun coffee brewer.

5.1 Daily Cleaning

• Drip Tray: Remove the drip tray and empty any accumulated liquid. Wash with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry.
• K-Cup Pod Adapter / Reusable Filter: After each use, remove and rinse the K-Cup pod adapter or reusable filter under running water. For thorough cleaning, wash with warm, soapy water.
• Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the brewer with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

5.2 Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)

Over time, mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee brewer, affecting its performance. Descale your brewer every 3-6 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.

1. Prepare Solution: Mix 1 cup of white vinegar with 2 cups of water.
2. Fill Reservoir: Pour the vinegar solution into the water reservoir.
3. Run Cycle: Place an empty mug on the drip tray. Press the 'Brew' button to run a full brewing cycle with the vinegar solution.
4. Repeat (Optional): For heavy buildup, you may repeat this process.
5. Rinse Cycles: After descaling, run 2-3 cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste.
