4. Setup and First Use

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and dispose of them responsibly.

  3. Placement: Place the egg cooker on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to cook eggs with your Severin EK3164 Egg Cooker:

  1. Piercing Eggs: Use the integrated egg piercer on the bottom of the measuring cup to carefully pierce a small hole in the blunt end of each egg. This prevents the eggs from cracking during cooking.
  2. Adding Water: Fill the measuring cup with the appropriate amount of cold water according to your desired egg consistency (soft, medium, or hard-boiled). The measuring cup has markings for different consistencies and egg quantities. Pour the water onto the heating plate of the base unit.
  3. Placing Eggs: Place the eggs into the egg tray with the pierced end facing upwards. Then, place the egg tray onto the base unit.
  4. Close Lid: Place the transparent lid onto the egg cooker. Ensure it is properly seated.
  5. Start Cooking: Plug the appliance into a suitable power outlet. Press the On/Off switch. The LED indicator will illuminate, signifying that the cooking process has started.
  6. Cooking Process: The water will heat up and steam the eggs. Once the water has completely evaporated, a signal tone will sound, indicating that the eggs are cooked to your selected consistency.
  7. Finish: Press the On/Off switch again to turn off the appliance and unplug it from the power outlet. Carefully remove the lid using the side handles to avoid steam burns. Remove the egg tray and immediately rinse the eggs under cold water to stop the cooking process and make them easier to peel.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your egg cooker.

  1. Before Cleaning: Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning.
  2. Lid and Egg Tray: The transparent lid and egg tray can be washed in warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  3. Base Unit and Heating Plate: Wipe the exterior of the base unit with a damp cloth. The heating plate can be cleaned with a damp cloth. For stubborn residue, a mild abrasive cleaner suitable for non-stick surfaces can be used sparingly. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive pads.
  4. Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up on the heating plate. To descale, fill the heating plate with a mixture of water and vinegar (1:1 ratio) or a commercial descaling solution. Let it sit for 30 minutes, then empty and rinse thoroughly. Do not switch on the appliance during descaling.
  5. Storage: Store the clean and dry egg cooker in a cool, dry place.
