1. Product Overview

The PEMP AHD Backup Camera is designed to provide a clear rear view for parking and reversing maneuvers. This camera offers 720P resolution at 25 frames per second, ensuring high-definition video quality. It is specifically designed for select BMW models and requires a compatible display unit.

Important Compatibility Notes:

  • This camera is not suitable for your original car display if it does not support an AHD input interface. It only supports rear displays with AHD input.
  • Your display must support 720P 25FPS format input; otherwise, the image will be black and white.
  • This camera is only suitable for BMW F10, F30, F25, F48 dedicated rear-view camera installations. It is not compatible with other models.

3. Installation Guide

3.1 Preparation

  1. Remove the fixing screws on the sound insulation board of the trunk.
  2. Remove the warning sign hanger.
  3. Remove the protective cover on the luggage compartment support rod.
  4. Remove the entire boot sound insulation panel.
  5. Remove the trunk handle from the original vehicle.

3.2 Camera Mounting

  1. Remove the rear cover from the trunk handle and install it to the camera assembly.
  2. Install the camera to the original position of the trunk handle.

3.3 Cable Routing

  1. Hide the camera line in the slot in the trunk.
  2. Pass the wire through the trunk support lever and install the protective cover.
  3. The line of the camera can be hidden along the rubber strip of the window.
  4. Put the back seat down and lead the camera cable to the trunk.

3.4 Wiring Connections

Connect the wires according to the instructions provided in the video and diagram. Ensure proper connection of the video input and power lines.

3.5 Reassembly

  1. Tie up any excess wire with a tie and fix it securely in the trunk.
  2. Install the sound insulation board and warning board of the trunk.

4. Setup and Configuration

4.1 Camera Type and Format Selection

  1. Access the settings menu on your display unit.
  2. Navigate to Car Settings > Reversing Settings > Camera Type.
  3. Select Aftermarket Camera.
  4. Under Camera Format (For Aftermarket Camera), choose the correct format for your camera. For this AHD 720P camera, select AHD 720p@25.
  5. After making the selection, turn off the engine and restart the vehicle for changes to take effect.

4.2 Front-view Camera Settings (if applicable)

If you have a front-view camera installed, ensure its settings are correctly configured.

  • After the camera is connected, go to Settings > Car Settings > Reverse Settings and set the Front-view Time to a non-zero value. The front-view time can be set according to your needs, but it cannot be set to 0, otherwise the front view will not be displayed.

4.3 Manual Transmission Settings

For models with manual transmission, the reverse image can be displayed normally only when the gear type is set to 2 or 3.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Reverse Screen Shows No Signal

If your Linux screen reversing does not show up or displays "No Signal", follow these steps:

  1. Enter the original car interface. If the original car does not display, contact customer service.
  2. Go to Settings > Car Settings > Reversing Settings > Camera Type and select Aftermarket Camera.
  3. Under Camera Format (For Aftermarket Camera), ensure you have selected the correct format (e.g., AHD 720p@25).
  4. Turn off the engine and restart the vehicle.

5.2 Radar Button Not Responding

If your radar button doesn't respond, you can enable it through the settings:

  1. Go to Settings > Car Settings > Reversing Settings.
  2. Turn on the Radar (For Aftermarket Camera) option.
