2. Camera Installation and Connection
The 4K IP Dome Cameras connect to the NVR via Power over Ethernet (PoE) ports, simplifying installation.
- Plan Camera Placement: Identify optimal locations for cameras, considering coverage area, power access (if not using PoE), and cable routing. Ensure cameras are within range of the NVR's PoE capabilities.
- Mount Cameras: Use the provided mounting templates and hardware to securely install each dome camera.
- Connect Cameras: Connect one end of the CAT5e Ethernet cable to the camera's Ethernet port and the other end to an available PoE port on the NVR. The NVR will provide both power and video signal.

3. Initial System Configuration
Follow the on-screen prompts from the NVR's setup wizard to configure basic settings such as language, date/time, network settings, and hard drive initialization.
Operating Your System
1. Live View
After initial setup, the NVR will display live video feeds from all connected cameras on the monitor. Use the mouse to navigate the interface, switch views, and access camera-specific settings.
2. Recording
The NVR supports various recording modes:
- Continuous Recording: Records 24/7.
- Motion Detection Recording: Records only when motion is detected in the camera's field of view.
- Scheduled Recording: Records during specific times.
Configure recording schedules and motion detection zones through the NVR's menu system.
3. Playback
Access recorded footage using the playback function. You can search by date, time, and event type (e.g., motion detection). The NVR's timeline allows for easy navigation through recordings.
4. Remote Access (Lorex App)
Download the official Lorex App on your smartphone or tablet to view live feeds, play back recordings, and receive alerts remotely. Follow the app's instructions for connecting to your NVR system.
5. Audio and Night Vision Features
- Listen-in Audio: Cameras with built-in microphones allow you to hear audio from the camera's location. Enable audio through the NVR or app settings.
- Night Vision: The cameras provide up to 130ft of infrared night vision in low-light conditions.
- Color Night Vision: In certain low-light conditions with ambient light, the cameras can maintain a color image, enhancing detail and clarity.
Maintenance
1. Hard Drive Management
The NVR's hard drive will automatically overwrite the oldest recordings when it reaches full capacity. Regularly back up important footage to an external storage device if needed.
2. Firmware Updates
Periodically check the Lorex website for firmware updates for your NVR and cameras. Keeping your system updated ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features.
3. Camera Cleaning
Clean camera lenses and housings periodically with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, or smudges that may affect image quality. Do not use harsh chemicals.
