Setup

Powering the Unit

The MCR-1500 can be powered using either AC power or batteries.

AC Power Operation:

1. Ensure the unit is turned off.
2. Connect the AC power cord to the AC power jack located on the back of the unit.
3. Plug the other end of the AC power cord into a standard AC wall outlet (120V AC ~ 60Hz).

Battery Operation:

1. Open the battery compartment door located on the bottom of the unit.
2. Insert 8 x DC1.5V "D" (UM-1) batteries (not included) into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
3. Close the battery compartment door securely.

Note: For best performance, alkaline-type batteries are recommended. Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period.

Operating Instructions

General Operation

• To turn the unit on, press the POWER button.
• To select a function (CD, Tape, AUX, FM, AM), use the FUNCTION SELECTOR knob.
• Adjust the volume using the VOLUME CONTROL knob.

CD Player Operation

1. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the CD door.
2. Carefully place a CD (or MP3 CD, CD-R/RW) onto the CD spindle with the label side facing up.
3. Close the CD door.
4. Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR to CD. The LED display will show the track number.
5. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback.
6. To pause, press PLAY/PAUSE again. Press again to resume.
7. To stop playback, press the STOP button.
8. To skip to the next track, press the SKIP/SEARCH FORWARD button.
9. To go back to the beginning of the current track or previous track, press the SKIP/SEARCH BACKWARD button.
10. For MP3 CDs, use the FOLDER+ or FOLDER- buttons to navigate between folders.

Cassette Player/Recorder Operation

The unit features two cassette decks: PLAY/REC A and PLAYBACK B.

Playing a Cassette:

1. Press the STOP/EJECT button for either Cassette A or Cassette B to open the cassette door.
2. Insert a cassette tape into the compartment.
3. Close the cassette door.
4. Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR to TAPE.
5. Press the PLAY button on the desired cassette deck (A or B) to begin playback.
6. Use the FAST FORWARD or REWIND buttons to quickly move through the tape.
7. Press PAUSE to temporarily stop playback, and press again to resume.
8. Press STOP/EJECT to stop playback and eject the tape.

Recording to Cassette:

The MCR-1500 allows recording from CD, Radio, AUX-in, or Microphone to Cassette A.

1. Insert a blank, recordable cassette tape into Cassette Deck A.
2. Select the desired source (CD, FM/AM, AUX-in) using the FUNCTION SELECTOR.
3. Start playback on the source (e.g., play a CD, tune to a radio station).
4. Press the RECORD button on Cassette Deck A to begin recording. The PLAY button will also engage.
5. To stop recording, press the STOP/EJECT button on Cassette Deck A.

Note: When recording from the microphone, ensure the microphone is connected to the 3.5mm Microphone Jack and adjust the Microphone Volume Control for optimal recording levels.

AM/FM Radio Operation

1. Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR to FM or AM.
2. Extend the telescopic antenna for FM reception. For AM, rotate the unit for best reception.
3. Use the TUNING CONTROL knob to tune into your desired radio station.
4. The FM Stereo indicator will light up when receiving an FM stereo broadcast.

Auxiliary Input (AUX-IN)

The unit features a 3.5mm AUX-IN jack for connecting external audio devices like smartphones or MP3 players.

1. Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the AUX-IN jack on the MCR-1500.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to the headphone jack or audio output of your external device.
3. Set the FUNCTION SELECTOR to AUX.
4. Start playback on your external device. Audio will now play through the MCR-1500 speakers.

Maintenance

General Care

• Keep the unit away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive dust or moisture.
• Clean the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Avoid dropping the unit or subjecting it to strong impacts.

CD Player Care

• Handle CDs by their edges to avoid fingerprints on the playing surface.
• Clean dirty CDs with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the center outwards.
• Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners on CDs.

Cassette Deck Care

• Periodically clean the tape heads, capstans, and pinch rollers using a cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
• Demagnetize the tape heads regularly to prevent sound distortion.
