Important Safety Instructions
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

Setup
1. Unpacking
- Carefully remove all packaging materials from the appliance.
- Ensure all parts are present: main unit, portafilter, single filter, double filter, measuring spoon/tamper.
- Place the machine on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface.
2. First Use & Initial Cleaning
- Wash the water tank, portafilter, and filters with warm soapy water, then rinse thoroughly.
- Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
3. Filling the Water Tank
- Remove the 1.5-liter water tank from the back of the machine.
- Fill the tank with fresh, cold water up to the MAX level indicator. Do not exceed the MAX line.
- Replace the water tank securely in its position.
4. Priming the Machine
- Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Press the ON/OFF button on the touch panel. The machine will begin heating, indicated by a flashing light.
- Once the light stops flashing and remains solid, the machine is ready.
- Place a cup under the coffee outlet. Press the 1-cup button to dispense water without coffee. Repeat this process 2-3 times to flush the system.
Operating Instructions

The Solac CE4498 features an exclusive, illuminated touch screen for easy operation:
- ON/OFF Button: Powers the machine on or off.
- 1-Cup Button: Dispenses a single espresso shot.
- 2-Cups Button: Dispenses a double espresso shot.
- Steam Button: Activates the steam function for frothing milk.
2. Making Espresso (Ground Coffee)
- Ensure the machine is preheated (solid light).
- Insert the desired filter (single or double) into the portafilter.
- Add ground coffee to the filter. Use the measuring spoon to add 1 level spoon for a single shot or 2 for a double.
- Lightly tamp the coffee with the flat side of the measuring spoon. Ensure the coffee level is below the MAX line of the filter.
- Attach the portafilter to the brewing head by aligning it and turning it firmly to the right until it locks.
- Place one or two cups on the drip tray under the portafilter spouts.
- Press the 1-Cup or 2-Cups button. The machine will automatically dispense the programmed amount of coffee and stop.
- To stop dispensing manually, press the active coffee button again.

3. Customizing Coffee Volume
The machine allows you to customize the volume for single and double shots:
- Ensure the machine is preheated and ready.
- Press and hold the 1-Cup or 2-Cups button. The machine will start dispensing coffee.
- Release the button when the desired volume is reached. The machine will remember this setting for future use.
4. Frothing Milk (Steam Nozzle)
The adjustable stainless steel steam nozzle allows you to prepare creamy cappuccinos and lattes.
- Fill a pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy).
- Press the Steam button. The steam indicator will flash while heating and become solid when ready.
- Position the steam nozzle just below the surface of the milk in the pitcher.
- Turn the steam control knob on the side of the machine counter-clockwise to release steam.
- Move the pitcher up and down gently to create foam.
- Once desired foam is achieved, turn the steam control knob clockwise to stop steam.
- Press the Steam button again to turn off the steam function.
- Immediately clean the steam nozzle after use to prevent milk residue from drying.
Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.
1. Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the machine and allow it to cool before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.
2. Drip Tray
- The drip tray should be emptied and cleaned regularly, especially when the red indicator floats up.
- Remove the drip tray, discard the water, and wash with warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly before replacing.
3. Water Tank
- Remove the water tank and wash it with warm soapy water periodically. Rinse well to remove any soap residue.
4. Portafilter and Filters
- After each use, remove the portafilter and discard the used coffee grounds.
- Rinse the portafilter and filter under running water. Use a brush to remove any coffee residue.
5. Steam Nozzle
- Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam nozzle with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue.
- Occasionally, you may need to purge a small amount of steam to clear any internal blockages.
6. Descaling
Mineral deposits from water can build up in the machine over time, affecting performance. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
- Fill the water tank with a descaling solution according to the manufacturer's instructions, or use a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:2 ratio).
- Place a large container under the coffee outlet and steam nozzle.
- Turn on the machine and allow it to heat up.
- Run half of the solution through the coffee outlet by pressing the 2-cups button repeatedly.
- Run the remaining solution through the steam nozzle by activating the steam function.
- Turn off the machine and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
- Rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh water.
- Repeat steps 3-5 with fresh water to thoroughly rinse the machine.
Troubleshooting
