5. Operating Instructions

This section details how to use your EBTOOLS Keypad Cabinet Lock.

5.1 Initial Setup: Setting the User Code

  1. The lock comes with a default factory code (refer to the quick start guide or packaging for the default code, typically '1234').
  2. To change the code, ensure the lock is in the unlocked position.
  3. Press the 'C' button, then enter the current code, and then press 'OK'.
  4. Press the 'C' button again, then enter your new desired code (1 to 12 digits), and then press 'OK'.
  5. Repeat the new code and press 'OK' to confirm. A successful confirmation tone will sound.
  6. Test the new code immediately to ensure it has been set correctly.

5.2 Unlocking with Keypad

  1. Enter your programmed user code on the keypad.
  2. Press the 'OK' button.
  3. The lock will unlock, indicated by an audible tone and/or light. Turn the knob to open the cabinet/drawer.

5.3 Unlocking with Physical Key

In case of forgotten code or battery depletion, the physical key can be used to unlock the cabinet.

5.4 Security Alarm Function

The lock is equipped with a security alarm. If an incorrect password is entered 3 consecutive times, the lock will activate an alarm for 60 seconds. To stop the alarm, enter the correct password.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Charging the Battery

The lock features a built-in rechargeable battery. When the battery level is low, the lock will display a prompt (e.g., a specific light indicator or audible signal). From this point, the lock can typically be unlocked approximately 50 more times before complete power loss.

  1. Locate the USB-C charging port on the side of the lock (visible in some product images).
  2. Connect a standard USB-C charging cable (not included) to the port.
  3. Connect the other end of the cable to a USB power source (e.g., computer, wall adapter).
  4. The charging indicator will illuminate. Once fully charged, the indicator will change or turn off.

6.2 Cleaning

Wipe the lock's surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish or electronic components.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Lock does not respond: Check if the battery is charged. If the battery is completely depleted, use the physical key to open the lock and then charge the unit.
  • Cannot set new code: Ensure the lock is in the unlocked state before attempting to change the code. Follow the code setting steps precisely. If issues persist, try resetting the lock (if a reset button is available, refer to specific product details; otherwise, allow battery to fully deplete and recharge).
  • Alarm sounds frequently: This indicates multiple incorrect password attempts. Ensure you are entering the correct code. If others have access, verify they know the correct code.
  • Lock mechanism is stiff: Ensure the installation is correct and the latch plate is properly aligned. Do not force the mechanism.

8. Safety Information

  • Keep the physical key in a safe and accessible location, separate from the lock, for emergency access.
  • Do not expose the lock to extreme temperatures or moisture.
  • Avoid using excessive force on the keypad or lock mechanism.
  • This lock is designed for cabinet and drawer security and is not intended for high-security applications where robust physical security is paramount.
