6. Installation and Setup
Warning: Installation should only be performed by qualified personnel. Ensure power is disconnected before any installation or wiring work to prevent electric shock.
6.1 Wiring Connections
The XLG-150-H-AB driver features clearly labeled input and output cables. Refer to Figure 3.2 for visual identification.
- Input (AC):
- ACN (Blue): Neutral wire.
- ACL (Brown): Live wire.
- GREEN/YELLOW: Ground wire.
- Output (DC):
- BLUE (-): DIM- (for dimming control).
- WHITE (+): DIM+ (for dimming control).
- BLACK (-): Vo- (DC output negative).
- RED (+): Vo+ (DC output positive).
Connect the input wires to your AC mains supply according to local electrical codes. Connect the output wires to your LED fixture, ensuring correct polarity (Vo+ to LED positive, Vo- to LED negative).
6.2 Mounting
The driver is designed for rack mount applications. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating. The IP67 rating ensures protection against dust and water ingress, making it suitable for outdoor use, but proper heat dissipation is still crucial for optimal performance and longevity.
7. Operating Instructions
7.1 Current Adjustment
The XLG-150-H-AB features a built-in potentiometer (refer to Figure 3.3) for adjusting the output current. This allows for fine-tuning the brightness of connected LEDs. Use a small screwdriver to carefully turn the potentiometer to achieve the desired current output. Always perform adjustments with the power disconnected, then reapply power to test the new setting.
7.2 Dimming Operation (3-in-1 Function)
The driver supports three dimming methods: 0-10Vdc, 10V PWM signal, and resistance dimming. Connect your dimming control signal to the DIM+ (White) and DIM- (Blue) wires.

Figure 7.1: Diagram illustrating the three dimming methods (0-10Vdc, 10V PWM, and resistance) for the XLG-150 series. It shows connection diagrams and corresponding output current curves for each method.
- 0-10Vdc Dimming: Connect a 0-10Vdc dimmer to DIM+ and DIM-. A 10V signal typically corresponds to 100% output, while 0V corresponds to the minimum dimming level (approximately 8% output).
- 10V PWM Signal Dimming: Connect a 10V PWM signal (frequency range 100Hz - 3KHz) to DIM+ and DIM-. The duty cycle of the PWM signal controls the output current.
- Resistance Dimming: Connect a variable resistor between DIM+ and DIM-. The resistance value will determine the output current.
Note: Do not connect DIM- to Vo-. The minimum dimming level is approximately 8%. Output current is not defined when 0% or 1 ohm. The output current could drop to 0% when dimming input is about 0Vdc or 0V PWM signal with 0% duty cycle.
8. Maintenance
The Mean Well XLG-150-H-AB LED driver is designed for long-term, maintenance-free operation. However, periodic checks can help ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Cleaning: Ensure the exterior of the driver is free from excessive dust or debris, especially around cooling surfaces, to maintain proper heat dissipation. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning.
- Cable Integrity: Periodically inspect input and output cables for any signs of damage, fraying, or loose connections. Address any issues promptly.
- Environmental Conditions: While rated IP67, ensure the operating environment remains within specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent premature wear.
No user-serviceable parts are inside the unit. Do not attempt to open the casing, as this will void the warranty and may expose you to hazardous voltages.
9. Troubleshooting
If the LED driver is not functioning as expected, consider the following common issues and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No LED output | No input power; incorrect wiring; short circuit; over voltage protection activated; over temperature protection activated. | Check AC input power and connections. Verify output wiring polarity. Disconnect load to check for short circuit. Allow unit to cool if over temperature. |
| LEDs flicker or dim unexpectedly | Unstable input voltage; dimming signal issue; incorrect current adjustment. | Ensure stable AC input. Check dimming control connections and signal quality. Re-adjust output current potentiometer. |
| Driver is hot to the touch | Insufficient ventilation; ambient temperature too high; overloaded. | Ensure proper airflow around the unit. Verify ambient temperature is within operating limits. Check if the connected load exceeds the driver's rated power. |
If problems persist after attempting these solutions, contact qualified service personnel or Mean Well technical support.
