Ultra-Slim Design: The K7 features a redesigned low-profile Gateron mechanical switch, which is 40% slimmer than conventional switches. This results in a shorter pre-travel and total travel distance, allowing for faster input and feedback. The reinforced aluminum frame ensures durability while maintaining an elegantly slim profile.

Hot-Swappable Switches: The K7 is the first ultra-slim wireless mechanical keyboard to incorporate a hot-swappable feature for low-profile Gateron mechanical switches. This allows users to personalize their typing experience without the need for soldering. The pre-installed low-profile Gateron Blue switches provide a clicky responsiveness with a lifespan of up to 70 million keystrokes. Note: This keyboard is not compatible with any conventional MX style mechanical switches.

Wireless and Wired Connectivity: The K7 can connect with up to 3 devices simultaneously via its stable Bluetooth 5.1 chipset, allowing seamless switching between a laptop, PC, tablet, and phone. Alternatively, it can be connected to your computer using the included Type-C cable for a wired connection.

Ergonomic Support: The keyboard is engineered with two adjustable feet levels and curved keycaps to provide long-lasting ergonomic typing support, allowing you to choose the most comfortable typing angle (6° or 9°).

Setup

1. Wireless (Bluetooth) Connection

  1. Locate the toggle switch on the side of the keyboard labeled "Wireless/Wired". Slide it to the "Bluetooth" position.
  2. Locate the toggle switch labeled "Win/Android Mac/iOS". Slide it to the appropriate operating system for your device (Mac/iOS for Apple devices, Win/Android for Windows/Android devices).
  3. To enter pairing mode, press and hold the 'Fn1' + 'Q' keys for 4 seconds. The 'Q' key backlight will flash rapidly, indicating it's ready to pair.
  4. On your device (laptop, PC, tablet, or phone), enable Bluetooth and search for "Keychron K7". Select it to connect.
  5. Once connected, the 'Q' key backlight will stop flashing.
  6. To connect to a second device, press 'Fn1' + 'W' for 4 seconds, then repeat steps 3-5. For a third device, use 'Fn1' + 'E'. You can switch between connected devices by pressing 'Fn1' + 'Q', 'Fn1' + 'W', or 'Fn1' + 'E' briefly.

2. Wired (USB Type-C) Connection

  1. Locate the toggle switch on the side of the keyboard labeled "Wireless/Wired". Slide it to the "Cable" position.
  2. Connect the included USB Type-C cable to the keyboard's Type-C port and the other end to your computer's USB port.
  3. The keyboard will automatically be recognized and ready for use.

Key Functions

Backlight Control

The Keychron K7 features dynamic RGB LED backlighting. Use the following key combinations to control the backlight:

Hot-Swapping Switches

To replace a switch:

  1. Gently remove the keycap using the provided keycap puller.
  2. Use the switch puller to carefully clamp onto the left and right sides of the low-profile Gateron switch.
  3. Pull the switch straight up to remove it from the PCB.
  4. Align the pins of the new low-profile Gateron switch with the holes on the PCB. Ensure the pins are straight to avoid bending.
  5. Gently push the new switch down until it clicks into place.
  6. Replace the keycap.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Keychron K7, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Cycle through backlight modes using 'Fn1' + 'Light Bulb' key.
Specific keys not working after hot-swapping
  • Ensure the switch is fully seated and its pins are not bent. Remove and re-insert the switch carefully.
  • Verify that you are using a compatible low-profile Gateron switch.
