4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

Your Rowenta Premiss scale comes with a lithium-ion battery already included. Before first use, ensure the battery's protective tab (if present) is removed from the battery compartment. If the display does not light up, open the battery compartment on the underside of the scale and ensure the battery is correctly inserted with the correct polarity.

4.2 Initial Placement

Place the scale on a hard, flat, and stable surface. Avoid placing it on carpets, rugs, or uneven flooring, as this can affect measurement accuracy. For consistent readings, always use the scale in the same location.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Taking a Measurement

  1. Ensure the scale is on a hard, flat surface.
  2. Gently step onto the center of the scale platform. The scale will automatically turn on.
  3. Stand still and wait for your weight to be displayed on the LCD screen. The reading will stabilize and flash briefly before locking.
  4. Step off the scale. The display will remain on for approximately 5 seconds before automatically turning off.

To switch between metric (kilograms) and imperial (stones/pounds or pounds) units:

  • Turn the scale over to access the underside.
  • Locate the unit conversion button, usually a small button or switch near the battery compartment.
  • Press or slide the button to cycle through the available units (kg, st, lb).
  • Flip the scale back over and take a measurement to confirm the desired unit is displayed.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

The tempered glass surface of your Rowenta scale is easy to clean:

  • Wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth.
  • For stubborn marks, a mild glass cleaner can be used, applied to the cloth first, not directly to the scale.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or immerse the scale in water.
  • Ensure the scale is completely dry before storage or next use.

6.2 Storage

Store the scale in a dry place at room temperature. Its ultra-thin design allows for easy storage under furniture or in a cabinet.
