3. Setup Instructions

There are two primary methods to set up your rockspace AC750 WiFi Range Extender:

3.1. Method 1: Via Web Page

  1. Plug the WiFi extender into a power outlet. Wait for the PWR indicator light to turn solid blue.
  2. On your mobile device or computer, connect to the Wi-Fi network named "rockspace_EXT".
  3. Open a web browser and navigate to http://re.rockspace.local.
  4. Create a login password for the extender. This password is for accessing the extender's settings page.
  5. The extender will scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Select the Wi-Fi network you wish to extend from the list.
  6. Enter the password of your existing router's Wi-Fi network.
  7. You can choose to keep the default name for the extended network (e.g., "YourNetworkName_EXT") or set a custom name.
  8. Confirm the settings. The extender will then reboot and establish the extended network.
  9. Once setup is complete, reconnect your devices to the new extended Wi-Fi network.

3.2. Method 2: Via WPS Button

The WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) method offers a quick and easy way to connect your extender to your router.

  1. Plug the WiFi extender into a power outlet. Wait for the PWR indicator light to turn solid blue.
  2. Press the WPS button on your existing Wi-Fi router.
  3. Within two minutes, press the WPS button on the rockspace AC750 WiFi Range Extender.
  4. The WPS indicator light on the extender will blink and then turn solid blue, indicating a successful connection. The Signal indicator will also turn blue.
  5. Once connected, the extended Wi-Fi network will be available.

4. Operating and Placement

After initial setup, proper placement of your extender is crucial for optimal performance. The goal is to place the extender halfway between your router and the Wi-Fi dead zone you wish to eliminate.

  • Optimal Placement: Place the extender in a location where the Signal LED indicator is solid blue. This indicates a strong connection to your router.
  • Avoid Too Close: If the extender is too close to the router, the extended Wi-Fi signal may not effectively reach the dead zone.
  • Avoid Too Far: If the extender is too far from the router, it will not receive a strong enough signal from the original router to extend effectively.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Heat Dissipation

The rockspace AC750 Extender is designed with venting grills to ensure plenty of airflow for heat dissipation. To maintain optimal performance and device longevity, ensure the vents are not obstructed and the device is placed in a well-ventilated area.

5.2. Resetting the Extender

If you encounter issues or wish to reconfigure your extender, you can perform a factory reset:

  1. Plug the extender into a power outlet and wait for the PWR indicator to turn solid blue.
  2. Locate the "RESET" button, usually a small pinhole, on the extender.
  3. Use a needle-shaped object (like a paperclip or toothpick) to press and hold the "RESET" button for approximately 8-10 seconds.
  4. Release the button when all three indicator lights (Signal, WPS, PWR) blink simultaneously.
  5. The extender will reboot, and the PWR indicator light will flash, then turn solid blue, indicating that the factory settings have been restored successfully.
  6. After a factory reset, you will need to set up the extender again using either the web page or WPS method.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Cannot connect to "rockspace_EXT" during setup: Ensure your mobile device's cellular data is turned off. Try restarting the extender and your device.
  • Web page http://re.rockspace.local is inaccessible: Verify you are connected to "rockspace_EXT" Wi-Fi. Try clearing your browser's cache or using a different browser.
  • Poor signal strength after setup: Relocate the extender to an optimal position (refer to Section 4). Ensure the Signal LED is solid blue.
  • WPS setup fails: Ensure you press the WPS button on both the router and extender within the 2-minute window. If it continues to fail, try the web page setup method.
  • Extended network not visible or not working: Perform a factory reset (refer to Section 5.2) and attempt the setup process again.
