3. Setup and First Use

Initial Cleaning:

1. Remove all packaging materials and labels from the brewer.
2. Wash all removable parts (drawers, drip tray if included) in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
3. Wipe the exterior of the brewer with a damp cloth.

Priming the Brewer:

Before first use, the brewer must be primed to fill the internal hot water tank.

1. Place the brewer on a flat, stable surface.
2. Ensure the hot water drawer is inserted into the brew head.
3. Place a large mug or container under the dispenser.
4. Open the lid of the water reservoir.
5. Pour at least 14 ounces of fresh, cold water into the reservoir. The water level indicator in the pour-in bowl will show the amount added.
6. Close the reservoir lid. The brewer will begin to heat the water.
7. Once the water is heated (indicated by the 'brew' light turning solid green), press the 'brew' button. Hot water will dispense.
8. Discard the hot water. The brewer is now primed and ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

The BUNN MCU offers four different brewing configurations. Always ensure the correct drawer is used for your desired beverage.

General Brewing Steps:

1. Ensure the brewer is plugged in and the 'brew' light is solid green, indicating the water is at optimal temperature.
2. Select the appropriate drawer for your beverage type.
3. Prepare the drawer with your coffee or tea.
4. Insert the prepared drawer into the brew head.
5. Place your cup or travel mug (up to 14 oz) on the drip tray.
6. Open the water reservoir lid and pour the desired amount of fresh, cold water (4 to 14 ounces) into the reservoir.
7. Close the reservoir lid. The brewing process will begin automatically.
8. For a bolder flavor, press the 'pulse' button during brewing.
9. Once brewing is complete, carefully remove your cup.

Specific Drawer Usage:

• K-Cup® Drawer: Insert a K-Cup® pack into the drawer. Close the drawer and insert into the brewer.
• Loose Grounds Drawer: Add your desired amount of ground coffee or loose tea into the filter basket within the drawer. Do not overfill. Close the drawer and insert into the brewer.
• Soft Pod/Tea Bag Drawer: Place a soft coffee pod or tea bag into the drawer. Close the drawer and insert into the brewer.
• Hot Water Drawer: Insert the empty hot water drawer into the brewer. Pour water into the reservoir to dispense hot water for other uses.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure optimal performance and longevity of your BUNN MCU brewer.

Daily Cleaning:

1. Unplug the brewer before cleaning.
2. Remove and empty the used coffee/tea from the drawer.
3. Wash all removable drawers and the drip tray (if applicable) in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
4. Wipe down the exterior of the brewer with a damp, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

Descaling (Every 3 Months or as needed):

Mineral deposits can build up over time, affecting performance. Descaling helps remove these deposits.

1. Ensure the brewer is unplugged and cooled.
2. Fill the water reservoir with a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water.
3. Place a large mug under the dispenser.
4. Plug in the brewer and allow the solution to heat.
5. Press the 'brew' button to run a full cycle of the vinegar solution through the machine.
6. Repeat the process with fresh water several times to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste.
