5. Installation
Follow these steps carefully to install the QwikSwap X1 board:
- Disconnect Power: Before beginning any work, ensure that all power to the furnace or air handler is completely disconnected at the circuit breaker or fuse box. Verify with a voltage tester.
- Access Blower Compartment: Open the access panel to the blower motor compartment of your HVAC unit.
- Identify Existing Wiring: Locate the wiring harness connected to the failed ECM motor. Note the connections for common, power leads, and any speed taps.
- Remove ECM Motor: Disconnect the wiring from the ECM motor and remove the motor from the unit.
- Install PSC Motor: Install the new Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) motor into the unit. Ensure it is properly mounted and secured.
- Connect QwikSwap X1:
- Move the wires from the original ECM motor's control board to the corresponding terminals on the QwikSwap X1 board. The QwikSwap X1 is designed to interface with the existing control signals.
- Connect the common and power lead(s) of the new PSC motor to the designated terminals on the QwikSwap X1 board.
- Connect the appropriate capacitor to the PSC motor as required.

- Secure Wiring: Ensure all connections are tight and properly insulated. Route wires to prevent pinching or damage.
- Close Compartment: Replace the blower compartment access panel.
- Restore Power: Restore power to the furnace or air handler at the main service panel.
- Test Operation: Initiate a call for heating or cooling to verify the proper operation of the blower motor.
6. Operation
Once installed, the QwikSwap X1 board operates by converting the signals from your HVAC system's control board to properly drive the new PSC motor. It is designed for single-speed operation, meaning the PSC motor will run at a consistent speed when activated by the system's demand for airflow.
The QwikSwap X1 requires no programming. It automatically adapts to the system's signals to ensure correct blower motor function.
7. Maintenance
The QwikSwap X1 board itself requires no routine maintenance. However, regular maintenance of the overall HVAC system and the PSC blower motor is recommended to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Periodically inspect wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear.
- Ensure the PSC motor is kept clean and free from debris.
- Replace air filters regularly as per your HVAC system manufacturer's recommendations.
