Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your NEWCARE HDMI Switch:

Connect HDMI Sources: Connect up to four HDMI source devices (e.g., Blu-Ray player, gaming console, laptop) to the HDMI IN 1-4 ports on the switch using high-quality HDMI 2.0 cables.
Connect HDMI Display: Connect your HDTV, monitor, or projector to the HDMI OUT port on the switch using an HDMI 2.0 cable.
Connect Audio Output (Optional):
- For 2-channel stereo audio, connect a 3.5mm audio cable from the 3.5mm AUDIO OUT port to your headphones or stereo system.
- For 5.1-channel audio, connect an optical Toslink cable from the OPTICAL OUT port or a coaxial cable from the COAXIAL OUT port to your audio receiver or soundbar.
Connect Power: Connect the provided 5V/1A DC power adapter to the MICRO 5V port on the switch, then plug the adapter into a power outlet. The input 1 LED indicator will light up by default when the switch is powered on, even if no HDMI source is connected to input 1.

HDMI Cable Requirements:

For optimal performance, use 26AWG (19+1PIN) HDMI 2.0 cables for input and output up to 5 meters.
If using 28AWG (19+1PIN) HDMI 2.0 cables, input and output lengths should not exceed 3 meters.

Operating Instructions

Switching Between HDMI Sources

The NEWCARE HDMI switch offers three methods for switching between connected HDMI sources:

Automatic Switching: The switch will automatically change to a new HDMI source when it is turned on. If multiple sources are active, it will prioritize the newly activated source. When a source is turned off, it will revert to the previously active source.
Manual Button Switching: Press the "SELECT" button on the front panel of the switch to cycle through the HDMI input sources (HDMI 1, 2, 3, 4).
IR Remote Control Switching: Use the provided IR remote control to directly select the desired HDMI input (HDMI 1, 2, 3, or 4).
- For best results, point the remote directly at the IR receiver on the switch.
- Press buttons firmly and allow approximately 2 seconds between presses for the switch to register the command.
- When switching sources, the display may briefly go black for about 5 seconds. This is normal behavior during the signal negotiation process.
- The maximum effective remote control distance is 4 meters.

Audio Return Channel (ARC) Function

The ARC function allows audio from your TV's built-in tuner or smart apps to be sent back to the HDMI switch and then outputted to an external sound system via the optical or coaxial audio outputs.

How to Use ARC Function:

Ensure your TV supports the ARC function and connect an HDMI cable from your TV's HDMI ARC port to the HDMI OUT port on the switch.
Connect an optical or coaxial cable from the corresponding output on the switch to your soundbar, speaker, home theater, or AV receiver.
Activate the ARC function on both your TV and the HDMI switch (using the remote or button if available). The ARC indicator on the switch will light up.

Important Notes on ARC:

When ARC is active, your TV remote may not control the volume of the external audio system. Volume adjustment will typically be done on your soundbar or home theater system.
If the HDMI output is not connected to a display, the input source can still be switched, and audio will be output normally through the audio extraction ports.

Audio EDID Settings

The switch provides three EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) settings to control the audio output format. Use the "TV/2.0/5.1" button on the switch or the remote control to cycle through these modes:

2CH Mode: Outputs 2-channel stereo audio. This mode is suitable for the 3.5mm jack output and can also be used for SPDIF/coaxial stereo output.
5.1CH Mode: Outputs 5.1-channel audio. This mode is primarily for SPDIF/coaxial outputs. It supports formats like Dobly True-HD, DTS-HD, AC3, DTS, DSD, and Dobly Digital pass-through. Ensure your connected display and audio receiver are compatible with these formats.
