3. Setup and Assembly

3.1 Charging the Battery

The 12V Lithium-ion battery should be fully charged before its first use to ensure optimal performance and battery longevity. Use only the WORKPRO 12V Li-ion Charger provided with the kit.

  1. Connect the charger to a standard power outlet.
  2. Insert the battery pack into the charger. Ensure it clicks into place securely.
  3. Allow the battery to charge until the indicator light on the charger signals a full charge (refer to charger manual for specific indicator details).
  4. Once charged, disconnect the battery from the charger and unplug the charger from the outlet.

3.2 Installing/Removing the Battery Pack

  1. To install: Align the battery pack with the base of the drill handle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
  2. To remove: Press the battery pack release button located on the side of the battery pack and slide the battery out of the drill handle.

3.3 Installing Drill/Screwdriver Bits

  1. Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise to open the jaws.
  2. Insert the desired drill bit or screwdriver bit into the chuck.
  3. Rotate the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws securely around the bit. Ensure the bit is centered and firmly held.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Variable Speed and Torque Adjustment

The drill features a variable speed trigger and a 2-speed gear control, along with an 18+1 position torque adjustment collar, allowing precise control for various tasks.

  • Speed Selection: Use the 2-speed gear control switch on top of the drill.
    • Position '1' (Low Speed): 0-400 RPM, ideal for driving screws and applications requiring higher torque.
    • Position '2' (High Speed): 0-1500 RPM, suitable for drilling into various materials.
  • Torque Adjustment: Rotate the torque adjustment collar to select the desired torque setting (1-18) or the drill mode.
    • Lower settings (1-5) are for small screws or soft materials.
    • Higher settings (6-18) are for larger screws or harder materials.
    • The drill icon setting is for drilling applications, providing maximum torque.
  • Variable Speed Trigger: The speed of the drill is controlled by the amount of pressure applied to the trigger switch. Pressing further increases the speed.

4.2 Forward/Reverse Operation

The forward/reverse rotation control switch is located above the trigger. Push the switch to the left for forward rotation (drilling/driving) and to the right for reverse rotation (removing screws/bits). Center position locks the trigger for safety.

4.3 Using the LED Light

  • Hammer: Use for driving and pulling nails. Ensure a firm grip and clear swing path.
  • Measuring Tape: For accurate measurements. Extend carefully and retract slowly.
  • Utility Knife: For cutting various materials. Always extend blade only as needed and retract fully after use. Use with caution.
  • Spirit Level: For checking horizontal and vertical alignment.
  • Pliers/Wrench: For gripping, bending, or turning objects. Ensure a secure grip to prevent slipping.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Always disconnect the battery pack from the drill before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior of the drill and hand tools. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Keep ventilation openings clear of dust and debris to prevent overheating.

5.2 Battery Care and Storage

  • Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • For long-term storage, charge the battery to approximately 50% capacity.
  • Do not store batteries in a discharged state to prevent deep discharge and damage.
