Setup Guide

1. Unpacking and Inspection

2. Physical Installation

The iPolar can be installed in two primary ways:

• Internal Installation: For compatible iOptron equatorial mounts, the iPolar can be easily installed directly inside the Right Ascension (RA) shaft. Refer to your specific mount's manual for detailed instructions on accessing and installing the iPolar in the RA shaft.
• External Installation: For other mounts or external use, the iPolar can be mounted using appropriate adapters (sold separately). Ensure the adapter provides a secure and stable connection for accurate alignment.

3. Connecting to a Computer

Connect the iPolar to your computer using a standard USB cable. The iPolar features a rear USB port for direct connection. It is designed for USB plug-and-play operation, meaning no specific drivers are typically required for most operating systems.

4. Software Installation (if applicable)

Operating Instructions

1. Launching the iPolar Software

Once the iPolar is connected and the software is installed, launch the iPolar application on your computer. The software should automatically detect the connected iPolar device.

2. Initial Setup in Software

• Location Input: Enter your precise geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) into the software. This information is crucial for accurate polar alignment calculations.

3. Performing Polar Alignment

• Environmental Protection: The iPolar is an electronic device. Protect it from extreme temperatures, high humidity, and direct exposure to rain or heavy dew.

Troubleshooting

Issue: iPolar not detected by computer.

• Check USB Connection: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the iPolar and the computer. Try a different USB port on your computer.
• Try Different Cable: Test with a different USB cable to rule out a faulty cable.
• Restart Software/Computer: Close and restart the iPolar software. If the issue persists, restart your computer.
• Driver Check: Although typically plug-and-play, verify that your operating system recognizes the device. In Device Manager (Windows), check for any unknown devices or driver issues.

Issue: Poor image quality or no stars visible in software.
