7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and accuracy of your weather station, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the display unit and sensor with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both units when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always replace all batteries at the same time.
  • Sensor Placement: Regularly check the outdoor sensor's placement to ensure it remains in a shaded, protected area, away from direct sunlight and extreme weather conditions.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Nor-Tec Weather Station, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Display / Display is Blank:
    • Check if the power adapter is securely connected to the main unit and the power outlet.
    • Ensure batteries are correctly inserted with proper polarity in both the main unit and the outdoor sensor.
    • Replace old or depleted batteries with new ones.
  • No Outdoor Temperature/Humidity Reading:
    • Ensure the outdoor sensor is within the 60-meter transmission range of the main unit.
    • Check for any large metal objects or thick walls between the sensor and the main unit that might interfere with the signal.
    • Replace batteries in the outdoor sensor.
    • Try re-syncing the sensor with the main unit (refer to specific button instructions in your quick start guide if available).
  • Unexpected Beeping/Alarm Sounds:
    • Verify that all alarm functions (daily alarm, temperature alerts, etc.) are properly deactivated in the settings.
    • Check if a freeze warning is active, as this can trigger an alert if outdoor temperature drops below a certain threshold.
    • Consult the quick start guide for detailed instructions on disabling specific alerts.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Ensure the outdoor sensor is not in direct sunlight or near heat sources (e.g., vents, windows) that could affect temperature readings.
    • Ensure the main unit is not placed near heat-emitting appliances or in direct sunlight indoors.

9. Important Notes

  • Outdoor Sensor Placement: To ensure accurate outdoor temperature and humidity readings, do not place the outdoor sensor in direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will cause artificially high temperature readings.
  • Battery Type for Outdoor Use: For outdoor temperatures ranging from -20°C to +60°C, do not use alkaline batteries. Lithium batteries are recommended for extreme cold conditions to ensure reliable performance.
