1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Ultimaxx DF260VL LED Speedlite. This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your new speedlite and its accompanying accessories. Please read this manual thoroughly before use to ensure safe and effective operation.

The Ultimaxx DF260VL is a versatile speedlite featuring Manual Mode, S1 and S2 wireless flash trigger modes, a 35mm fixed focal length, and a rapid 2.8-second flash recycle time. It includes a power-saving automatic shutdown function, a durable metal hot shoe, and an integrated LED light with 8 levels of brightness. An automatic save function retains your settings for convenience.

2. Safety Information

• Do not disassemble or attempt to repair the unit yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
• Keep the speedlite away from water and moisture to prevent electric shock or fire.
• Avoid direct eye exposure to the flash, especially at close range, as it can cause temporary vision impairment.

4. Product Overview

4.1 Ultimaxx DF260VL Speedlite

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the speedlite.
2. Insert four (4) AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Mounting the Speedlite

5.2.1 On-Camera Mounting

• Slide the speedlite's metal hot shoe into your camera's hot shoe mount.
• Tighten the locking ring on the speedlite to secure it to the camera.

5.2.2 Off-Camera Mounting with TTL Cord

• Attach one end of the TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord to your camera's hot shoe.
• Attach the other end of the TTL cord to the speedlite's hot shoe.
• Ensure both connections are secure. This allows the flash to be positioned away from the camera while maintaining TTL communication.

5.2.3 Mounting with V-Shaped Flash Bracket

• Mount your camera onto the central screw of the V-shaped flash bracket.
• Attach the speedlite to one of the cold shoes on the bracket.
• Optionally, attach the video microphone or another accessory to another cold shoe.

5.3 Attaching the Soft Diffuser

• Gently slide the soft diffuser over the flash head of the speedlite. Ensure it fits snugly.
• The diffuser helps to soften the light output for more even illumination.

5.4 Setting up the 50” Adjustable Tripod

• Extend the tripod legs and adjust their length using the leg locks.
• Adjust the center column height and the pan/tilt head as needed.
• Secure your camera or other equipment to the tripod's quick release plate.

5.5 Setting up the Tripod Dolly

• Unfold the tripod dolly arms.
• Place the feet of your tripod into the designated holders on the dolly.
• Lock the wheels if stationary use is desired, or unlock for smooth movement.

5.6 Connecting the Video Microphone

• Mount the video microphone to a cold shoe on your camera or the V-bracket.
• Connect the microphone's 3.5mm audio jack to your camera's microphone input port.
• Ensure the microphone is powered on if it requires batteries.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

• Press the ON/OFF button to power on the speedlite.
• Press and hold the ON/OFF button to power off the speedlite.

6.2 Mode Selection

Press the MODE button to cycle through the available flash modes:

• Manual Mode (M): Allows you to manually set the flash power output.
• S1 Mode (Optical Slave): The flash will fire in response to the first flash from a master flash. This mode is suitable for master flashes that do not emit a pre-flash.
• S2 Mode (Pre-flash Cancel Slave): The flash will ignore the pre-flash from a master flash and fire in response to the main flash. This mode is suitable for master flashes that emit a pre-flash (e.g., TTL flashes).

6.3 Adjusting LED Light Brightness

• When the LED light is active, use the + and - buttons to adjust its brightness. There are 8 levels of brightness available.

6.4 Test Flash

• Press the TEST button to fire a test flash. This is useful for checking flash output and readiness.

6.5 Power Saving Function

• The speedlite is equipped with an automatic power-saving function. If left idle for a certain period, it will enter a sleep mode to conserve battery power.
• To wake the speedlite, press any button or trigger the flash.

6.6 Automatic Save Function

• The speedlite automatically saves your last used settings (e.g., mode, LED brightness) when powered off. These settings will be restored upon the next power-on.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

• Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the speedlite.
• For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild cleaning solution, then wipe dry immediately.
• Do not use strong solvents or abrasive cleaners.
• Keep the hot shoe contacts clean and free of debris.

7.2 Storage

• When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
• Store the speedlite in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Use the provided protective pouch or a similar case to prevent scratches and damage.
