4. Setup and Installation
The ThermoSoft TF1510-240 heating system is designed for straightforward installation, particularly under floating floors, without the need for cement or mortar. For installations involving glued or tiled floors, refer to specific instructions provided by ThermoSoft for those applications.
4.1 Pre-Installation Steps
- Ensure the subfloor is clean, dry, and level.
- Plan the layout of the heating mats to cover the desired heating area. Multiple mats can be combined.
- Consult a qualified electrician to ensure proper wiring and to determine if a contactor/relay is required for larger installations.
4.2 Installation Procedure (Floating Floors)
- Roll Out Mats: Carefully unroll the ThermoFloor heating mats onto the subfloor according to your planned layout.
- Positioning: Butt the mats together, ensuring they are flat and cover the intended area. Small perimeter gaps do not need to be covered by the underlayment.
- Secure Seams: Use duct tape to secure the seams between adjacent mats, preventing movement during subsequent flooring installation.
- Wire Routing: Leave a 1-inch space from the wall for routing the power leads and sensor wires.
- Thermostat and Sensor Connection: Connect the lead wires from the heating mat to a compatible thermostat (purchased separately). The floor sensor (if applicable) should be run down the wall or in a separate conduit from the power leads to prevent interference.
- Install Flooring: Once the mats are properly laid and connected, proceed with installing your floating laminate, engineered wood, or wood floor according to the flooring manufacturer's instructions.

5. Operating Instructions
The ThermoSoft In-Floor Heating System requires a compatible thermostat (sold separately) for operation. Once installed and wired correctly, the system provides comfortable radiant heat.
5.1 Initial Power-Up
- After installation is complete and verified by a qualified electrician, turn on the power supply to the thermostat.
- Refer to your thermostat's user manual for specific programming and operation instructions.
5.2 General Operation
- Set your desired floor temperature using the thermostat controls.
- The system will automatically cycle on and off to maintain the set temperature, providing consistent warmth to your floor.
- The integral underlayment pad also insulates cold subfloors, contributing to overall comfort and energy efficiency.

6. Maintenance
The ThermoSoft In-Floor Heating System is designed to be maintenance-free once properly installed. No routine maintenance is required for the heating mats themselves.
- Ensure the thermostat is kept clean and free from dust.
- Avoid placing heavy objects that could damage the flooring or the heating mat beneath it.
- If any issues arise, consult the troubleshooting section or contact customer support.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience problems with your ThermoSoft In-Floor Heating System, review the following common issues and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| System not heating | No power to thermostat; Thermostat malfunction; Damaged heating mat; Wiring issue. | Check circuit breaker. Verify thermostat settings. Consult thermostat manual. If power is present at thermostat but mat does not heat, a professional electrician should inspect the wiring and mat for continuity. |
| Uneven heating | Improper mat layout; Air pockets under mat; External drafts. | Ensure mats are laid flat and securely. Check for drafts. This issue is typically identified during installation. |
| Thermostat display off or erratic | No power; Thermostat fault. | Check circuit breaker. Consult thermostat manual for troubleshooting. Replace thermostat if necessary. |
Important: For any electrical issues or suspected damage to the heating mat, always consult a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to repair the heating mat yourself.
