3. Setup and Installation

The BLACK+DECKER portable air conditioner is designed for simple and quick installation. It is suitable for rooms with double-hung or sliding windows.

Included Components:

• Window Kit (includes foam seal, slider bracket)
• 5.9 inch diameter air exhaust hose
• Hose inlet and outlet
• 2 locking screws
• Drain hose

Installation Steps:

1. Roll the portable air conditioner into the desired room, ensuring it is placed on a firm, smooth, and level floor strong enough to support the unit.
2. Open the window slightly and install the window kit. The kit includes a slider bracket and foam seal to create a secure fit.
3. Attach the 5.9-inch diameter air exhaust hose to the unit's outlet and then to the window kit adapter. Ensure the hose is extended and not kinked to allow proper airflow.
4. Plug the unit into a standard 115V~/60Hz outlet.
5. To minimize noise and vibration, ensure the unit is placed on a stable surface.

4. Operating Instructions

The unit can be operated using the top-mounted LED electronic controls or the included remote control.

Operating Modes:

• Cool Mode: Provides powerful cooling to lower room temperature. Adjust temperature using the up/down arrows (61°F to 88°F).
• Fan Mode: Circulates air without cooling. Select desired fan speed (low, medium, high).
• Dehumidify Mode: Removes excess moisture from the air, ideal for humid conditions.

Use the 24-hour timer function to program the unit to turn on or off at specific times, optimizing energy usage.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your air conditioner.

Filter Cleaning:

The air filter should be cleaned twice a month or more frequently depending on usage and air quality. To clean, simply slide out the filter, rinse it thoroughly under running water, and allow it to air dry completely before reinserting.

Water Drainage:

The unit dehumidifies the air, collecting moisture. Depending on humidity levels, you may need to drain the collected water every couple of days. Connect the drain hose to the unit's drain port and direct it to a suitable container or floor drain. For continuous drainage, ensure the drain hose is positioned downwards.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your air conditioner, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

• Unit does not turn on: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Ensure the unit is not in standby mode and the power button has been pressed.
• No cooling or insufficient cooling: Verify that the unit is in Cool mode and the temperature setting is lower than the room temperature. Check if the air filter is clean and not obstructed. Ensure the exhaust hose is properly installed and not kinked. Confirm windows and doors are closed to prevent warm air from entering.
• Unit is noisy: Ensure the unit is placed on a firm, level surface to minimize vibration. Check for any obstructions in the air intake or exhaust.
• Water leakage: Check if the drain hose is properly connected and not blocked. Ensure the unit is level.
• Remote control not working: Check and replace batteries (2 AAA batteries required, not included). Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the unit's sensor.
