5. Setup (Installation)
Before proceeding with installation, ensure the main power supply is switched off at the circuit breaker to prevent electric shock.
5.1 Mounting Location
- Choose a stable wall surface for mounting.
- Avoid mounting near heat sources (e.g., vents, direct sunlight) or objects that might cause false triggers (e.g., moving branches, reflective surfaces).
- The optimal mounting height is typically between 1.5m and 3.5m for effective detection.
5.2 Wiring
The motion detector requires a 3-wire connection (Live, Neutral, Switched Live). Refer to the wiring diagram below.

Figure 5.1: Wiring diagram showing connections for Live (L), Neutral (N), and Switched Live (L').
- Open the housing of the motion detector.
- Connect the Live wire (usually brown or red) to the 'L' terminal.
- Connect the Neutral wire (usually blue or black) to the 'N' terminal.
- Connect the Switched Live wire (to the lamp, usually black or brown) to the 'L'' terminal.
- Secure all connections and close the housing.
5.3 Mounting the Device

Figure 5.2: Bottom view of the motion detector, indicating the mounting points.
- Mark the drilling points on the wall using the detector's base as a template.
- Drill holes and insert appropriate wall plugs.
- Secure the detector to the wall using screws.
- Adjust the sensor head to the desired detection area. The head can swivel vertically up to 300°.

Figure 5.3: The sensor head can be adjusted vertically by 300°.
6. Operating (Settings)
The motion detector features three adjustable dials: LUX, SENS, and TIME. These allow you to customize the sensor's behavior.

Figure 6.1: Adjustment dials for LUX, SENS, and TIME on the side of the motion detector.
6.1 LUX (Ambient Brightness)
This dial controls the ambient light level at which the sensor becomes active. Rotate the dial to set the desired lux level:
- ‘3’ (Moon icon): The sensor will only activate in very dark conditions (approx. 3 lux).
- ‘2000’ (Sun icon): The sensor will activate in all light conditions, including daylight (approx. 2000 lux).
6.2 SENS (Sensitivity)
This dial adjusts the detection sensitivity of the sensor, influencing the range at which motion is detected.
- ‘-’ (Minimum): Lower sensitivity, shorter detection range.
- ‘+’ (Maximum): Higher sensitivity, longer detection range (up to 15m).
6.3 TIME (Operating Duration)
This dial sets how long the connected light remains on after motion is detected and no further motion is sensed.
- Adjustable from 10 seconds to 12 minutes.
- Rotate clockwise for longer duration, counter-clockwise for shorter duration.

7. Maintenance
The SEBSON HF_OUT_AA motion detector requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Wipe the sensor surface gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Periodically check the mounting and wiring for any signs of damage or loose connections.
- Ensure the sensor lens is clear of dirt, dust, or spiderwebs, which can affect performance.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your motion detector, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Light does not turn on when motion is detected. | 1. Power supply off. 2. Incorrect LUX setting. 3. Lamp faulty. 4. Wiring error. | 1. Check power supply. 2. Adjust LUX dial towards 'Sun' icon. 3. Replace lamp. 4. Check wiring connections (ensure power is off). |
| Light stays on continuously. | 1. Constant motion in detection area. 2. TIME setting too long. 3. Wiring error. | 1. Clear detection area of obstructions. 2. Adjust TIME dial to a shorter duration. 3. Check wiring (ensure power is off). |
| Light turns on without apparent motion. | 1. High sensitivity (SENS) setting. 2. Environmental factors (e.g., moving objects, heat sources). | 1. Adjust SENS dial towards '-'. 2. Reposition sensor or clear detection area of interference. |
| Detection range is too short. | 1. Low sensitivity (SENS) setting. 2. Obstructions in detection path. | 1. Adjust SENS dial towards '+'. 2. Clear obstructions or adjust sensor angle. |
