Operating Instructions
Adjusting the Seat and Handlebars
Proper adjustment of the seat and handlebars is crucial for comfort and effective exercise.
- Seat Height: Loosen the adjustment knob on the seat post. Raise or lower the seat until your leg has a slight bend at the knee when the pedal is at its lowest point. Tighten the knob securely.
- Seat Fore/Aft: Loosen the adjustment knob beneath the seat. Slide the seat forward or backward to achieve a comfortable position relative to the handlebars. Tighten the knob securely.
- Handlebar Height: Loosen the adjustment knob on the handlebar post. Adjust the handlebars to a height that allows for a comfortable riding posture without excessive strain on your back or shoulders. Tighten the knob securely.
Using the Console

Figure 2: Close-up view of the console and tablet holder. The console displays workout metrics, and the holder accommodates a tablet for entertainment or guided workouts.
The LCD display console tracks your workout metrics. It typically shows time, distance, speed, and calories burned. Refer to the console's specific instructions for detailed operation.
- Power On: The console usually activates automatically when you begin pedaling or press any button.
- Mode Button: Press the 'Mode' button to cycle through different display metrics.
- Set Button: Use the 'Set' button to adjust target values for time, distance, or calories, if available.
- Reset: Hold the 'Mode' button to reset all values to zero.
Adjusting Resistance
The ProForm 500 SPX uses a friction resistance mechanism with 8 levels. To increase or decrease the workout intensity:
- Turn the resistance knob clockwise to increase resistance and make pedaling harder.
- Turn the resistance knob counter-clockwise to decrease resistance and make pedaling easier.
Quick-Stop Braking System
For immediate stopping of the flywheel, press down firmly on the resistance knob. This engages the quick-stop braking system, bringing the pedals to a rapid halt.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your exercise bike.
- Cleaning: Wipe down the bike after each use with a damp cloth to remove sweat and dust. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Periodically check all nuts, bolts, and moving parts for tightness and wear. Tighten any loose fasteners.
- Lubrication: While the belt-drive system is generally low maintenance, consult the detailed product guide for any specific lubrication requirements for moving parts or pivot points.
- Storage: Store the exercise bike in a dry, cool environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
