3. Physical Interface
3.1 Front Panel
The front panel of the Vigor 2927 router features LED indicators and various ports for connectivity.

- LED Indicators: ACT, WAN2, USB1, DMZ, WAN1, USB2, QoS, VPN, WCF. These LEDs provide status information for various functions.
- Factory Reset Button: Used to restore the router to its default factory settings.
- USB Ports (USB1, USB2): For connecting 3G/4G/5G USB modems for WAN backup or network storage.
- WAN Ports (WAN1, WAN2/P6): Connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) modems. WAN2/P6 can also function as a LAN port.
- LAN Ports (P1-P5): Connect to local network devices such as computers, switches, or access points.

4. Initial Setup
4.1 Physical Connection
- Power Connection: Connect the supplied power adapter to the PWR port on the rear panel of the Vigor 2927 and then plug it into a power outlet. Turn on the router using the ON/OFF switch.
- WAN Connection:
- For your primary internet connection, connect an Ethernet cable from your ISP modem (e.g., cable modem, fiber ONT) to the WAN1 port on the Vigor 2927.
- If using a secondary internet connection for Dual-WAN, connect another Ethernet cable from your second ISP modem to the WAN2/P6 port.
- LAN Connection: Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports (P1-P5) on the Vigor 2927 to your computer or a network switch.
4.2 Initial Access to Web Interface
- Ensure your computer is configured to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).
- Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
- In the address bar, type the default IP address: 192.168.1.1 and press Enter.
- A login screen will appear. Enter the default username and password:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
It is highly recommended to change the default password immediately after the first login for security purposes.
4.3 Basic WAN Configuration
After logging in, navigate to WAN > General Setup to configure your internet connection(s).
- Select the appropriate WAN interface (e.g., WAN1).
- Choose the correct protocol (e.g., DHCP, Static IP, PPPoE) as provided by your ISP.
- Enter any required details such as IP address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS servers, or PPPoE username/password.
- Save your settings.
5. Operation
The Vigor 2927's web interface provides access to all configuration and monitoring features. Familiarize yourself with the menu structure on the left-hand side.
5.1 Dual-WAN Configuration
To configure Dual-WAN for load balancing or failover, navigate to WAN > General Setup and WAN > Load Balance/Route Policy.
- Load Balance: Distributes internet traffic across multiple WAN connections to increase overall bandwidth.
- Failover: Automatically switches to a secondary WAN connection if the primary connection fails, ensuring continuous internet access.
5.2 VPN Setup
The Vigor 2927 supports various VPN protocols. Access VPN settings via VPN and Remote Access.
- LAN-to-LAN VPN: Connects two separate networks securely.
- Remote Dial-in User: Allows individual users to connect securely to the corporate network from remote locations.
- Supported protocols include IPsec, OpenVPN, L2TP over IPsec, and SSL VPN.
5.3 Firewall and Security
Configure firewall rules and security features under Firewall.
- Filter Setup: Create rules to allow or deny specific traffic based on IP address, port, or protocol.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Firmware Upgrade
Regularly updating the router's firmware ensures optimal performance, security, and access to new features. Download the latest firmware from the official Draytek website.
- Download the firmware file (.all) from the Draytek support website.
- Navigate to System Maintenance > Firmware Upgrade in the web interface.
- Browse and select the downloaded firmware file.
- Click "Upgrade". Do not power off the router during the upgrade process.
6.2 Configuration Backup and Restore
It is advisable to back up your router's configuration before making significant changes or firmware upgrades.
- Backup: Go to System Maintenance > Configuration Backup and click "Backup" to save the configuration file to your computer.
- Restore: To restore a previous configuration, go to System Maintenance > Configuration Restore, browse for your saved configuration file, and click "Restore".
6.3 Factory Reset
A factory reset will erase all custom configurations and restore the router to its default settings. This can be done via the web interface or by using the physical reset button.

- Via Physical Button: With the router powered on, use a paperclip to press and hold the Factory Reset button on the front panel for approximately 5-10 seconds until the ACT LED starts blinking rapidly. Release the button and wait for the router to reboot.
7. Troubleshooting

- No Internet Access:
- Check WAN LED status. If off, verify cable connection to ISP modem.
- Ensure ISP modem is powered on and working correctly.
- Verify WAN settings in the router's web interface (WAN > General Setup).
- Try rebooting both the ISP modem and the Vigor 2927 router.
- Cannot Access Web Interface:
- Ensure your computer is connected to a LAN port of the router.
- Verify your computer's IP settings are set to DHCP or a static IP within the router's subnet (e.g., 192.168.1.x).
- Try clearing your browser's cache or using a different browser.
- If still unable to access, perform a factory reset (refer to Section 6.3).
- VPN Connection Fails:
- Check VPN server/client configuration settings for correctness (IP addresses, shared secret, usernames/passwords).
- Ensure necessary ports are open on any firewalls between the VPN client and server.
- Review VPN logs in the router's web interface for error messages.
